... and it's typical of the extremely lazy journalism that plagues us these days, the sort that cobbles together all sorts of rubbish from various sources with out doing any kind of intelligent, unbiased research themselves.
You are right . In this case I smell an agenda . Lot of people who move to places like northern Scotland don't really want the riff-raff visiting . They don't really care if there are no jobs for locals .
Oops my inverted snobbery is showing

Terrible journalism. No doubt written not from first hand experience. A few motorhomes parked up in a beauty spot supposedly is ruining Scotland for everyone else and let's chuck in the usual unverified claims of them throwing rubbish everywhere and dumping toilets in streams. 🙄

Let's face it. The main gripe is they can't stand to see people having what they consider a free holiday.

Ganavan sands at Oban. No sleeping in vehicles overnight signs. I counted 22 motorhomes🤣😂. The sheeple can’t help themselves.
It’s pants being stuck behind a motorhome doing 35/40mph on a major trunk road while your trying to go about your business.

She didn't mind making a few quid out of helping to make the NC500 so popular.

It's a major success and with so many visitors there is bound to be some bad behaviour - it happens everywhere. She states "The highlands need rules to curb this sort of antisocial tourism", well the rules already exist - they need to be enforced and thereby lies the rub. Only the said minority would disagree with that.

I hate the term NC500. Those of us who have toured the route before the name inception, this was our North West coast of Scotland route to tour. Those of us with the savvy, would head towards Lochcarron after lunch at the Applecross Inn, the Bealach would be less busy.

Gone are the days you could park for a couple of night at the CP next to the hostel at Achmelvich Bay, or park behind the Seaman’s Mission in Lochinver itself. Or park for a week if you wished on the Crofters land, Shieldaig. Last time we were there must have been 2016/17. Someone had stolen the honesty box which use to be fixed to field entrance gate.
These are just a couple examples of how it use to be, it is a shame how the situation up there has deteriated with a name turning the route into a racetrack 😞

Same with a lot of stuff ....

Even old abandoned mines etc we used to visit ...
Largely untouched from one visit to the next and respected by those dedicated souls that did the research to find out where fhey were ...

Unlike these days where nigh on everything is plastered far and wide all over the Internet ...
Influencers,tiktok stars and Vanlifers ....

A large proportion of which must have bruised knuckles from dragging them on the ground ...

Agreed, the internet has killed so much places to see and investigate due to the knuckle draggers who spoil it for those of us who respect our country!

If that's true this article wants reporting to IPSO.

Link here.

Here's a link to the online article,

You can zoom in on the image, it's clearly not a layby/parking area, one caravan has an awning out, looks like Bunree CAMC site? If the parking places and laybys are continuously rammed full of campers why doesn't she take a snapshot of one? Why deceive by including a photo of an actual campsite? Lazy misleading journalism.
She askes "Campervan convoys, who wouldn’t begrudge such behaviour?" but also published 'The official Ultimate Road Trip Guide To The NC500'
What a hypocrite.

if you search by image in google that is indeed the site it comes up with as a suggestion of where it is. You are correct. If you zoom in you can clearly see the pitches.
