Improving Grey waste pipe emptying

Ok so I finally got the van out today and took some more pictures. The last one shows the clip clearly. If you could get something that would lock then it might be better. I have tightened up the clip a bit and it might stay in place without the chain and hooks but Im not sure I would trust it.

This might work. Hinged pipe clip. Biggest size is 28mm and I have a feeling the grey waste taps are 28mm. Might be tight.

I don't think they would be up to the job Barry, I reckon the 'hinges' would give after a few uses.

I might just stick a bungee round it. IT would be easier than the stupid chain and separate hooks.

So, if that’s 35mm flexible pipe could you not just put a 35mm clip on the chassis where there are 2 holes on the chassis and just use the clip to retain the end of the solid/ flexible pipe, it’’s higher than the top of the tank so won’t run out until you pull it out of the retaining clip or use the same principle but attach the retaining clip to the body skirt roughly where it is at the moment and just unclip it to empty it??
The way I read this, you are proposing a pipe without a valve. Have I misunderstood?

Unless you have a valve, it will commence draining as soon as the highest point on the pipe is lower that the waste level.
i.e. it would be gushing before you get the end of the pipe to collection point.

I would be tempted to replace the Spring Clip with a home made U-shaped steel bracket with a hole in the end of each arm into which a drop nose or Clevis pin could be pushed and secured.

Yeah thats just techno babble to me. 😵‍💫 Do I need a Long stand a sprit level bubble with that?

Two bungees, just in case.

or maybe two Velcro straps.

Nah. I have some with Carabiners on. One of them will do I think in the absence of anything better or I figure out what Rob is on about. What I am trying to do is avoiding crawling around on the floor.

Never heard of one but I have seen them now you have shown me one. Yes that could work. I bet I don't get round to making something though. :D

You could alway ask Uncle Tim to do it for you Barry, then all you would have to do is bolt it on.

Then again, Michelle could always do that! 😁

is there actually a valve on that Dis charge pipe or does it just rely on the height of it to stop it .

No it has a valve you turn to open or close. As said though to get a proper flow you need to drop the blooming thing down and I think its too long and dangly to leave swinging lower like the old van.

Think I would extend the existing metal hanger so valve in level with bottom of tank and clamp valve to hanger, similar mine.
If the valve is the same height as the tank it's unlikely to get hit and if it does so will your waste tank. It's never never a problem on mine other than I wish it was 4" longer so I could reach it easier from the side
. What's the point of having it detachable on a flexy pipe?
