07 Ducato. All the lights work with the ignition on. Turn the ignition off, the side lights go off. Anyone any idea ? Four ways work ok.

Sorry Dadad I don’t exactly know what you’re asking!, can you explain to a thick brainless Zombie what you’re after achieving please.

So the sidelights which should have a permanent live feed seems to act as an ignition controlled feed so hence no parking lights.

What the cause, ? No idea without a diagram.

IIRC, when the engine is running and lights are on if you turn off engine all the lights go out, you then have to turn off lights, then switch them back on and they come on as parking lights.
Earlier vans had a button to press then turn key, some later models you have to turn key back a position then turn on lights.

So it might be a case of RTFM

Thanks for this, unfortunately didn't work.

My work boxer has lights, on auto with ignition...
Turn key off and remove and lights go off....
Turn lights off and back on again without key and side lights should stay on without key in...

I have just checked my Ducato manual.

It states categorically that the external lights only function with the ignition on.

Apparently there is no option to use the sidelights as parking lights ...

Cheers Chris, the question is now, is that legal?

This has been answered in past on OAL, and no it's not legal, the parking lights have to work.

AFAIK all versions of Ducato have a way of switching on the parking lights, but it's not always obvious.
p.s. on some versions with DRL's it requires you to go into the function menu, but this shouldn't apply to yours.

Found this but no way of knowing if it works

With the ignition off and the key in the STOP
position or removed:
Move the ring on the lighting stalk to
position O, then to dipped or main beam
headlamps.
The lamps will remain on while you are
parked.

I have a 2009 Ducato based mh. With the ignition key inserted I just push the black plastic bit on the lock barrel which allows me to turn the key back one position. When I remove the ignition key the parking and side markers come on no matter what position I have the light stalk. When I re-insert the key and turn it to the normal entry position the lights go off. This is to prevent the vehicle being driven with parking lights displayed only. Bob.

Fist thing there called parking lights, side lights went out after the war as they were on the old type fenders and so the name stuck,as for being legal all is required in a unlit road is that you show a red light to rear and white to front.
Remember fords and vw you could switch on either side of car by using the indicator stock plus with the keys turned anti clockwise and removed.

Is there a black button by ignition key? If so, try pressing in while turning off ignition before removing key.

That is how it is on the older ones mine included but Dadad said this didn't work, it is still like that on our Fiat cars which are later than 07

Will try this tomorrow. Neighbours are wondering why I keep going out and starting the van. Then again they always knew I was a bit strange. Associating with you people proves that.

Any info on the earlier acronyms ?

Didn't play with the black tag. Will try tomorrow. Cheers.
