It's so they can track you.my only question is..
WTF is a V16 beacon?

Yes there was, and that was the conclusion that was arrived at. I can't remember whether it was on here or Motorhomer.I'm sure there was a thread about this not so long ago .
Advisory for us foreigners but probably no harm , long term , buying the beacon

The Amazon seller in that link is being rather misleading. Those particular lights do not comply with the DGT regulations because there is no connectivity. The DGT approved lights are not ridiculously expensive, although they equate to a rather better bottle of plonk at upwards of £40.They are not a lot of money for a pair then you have one if the other stops working, i have them as my mentality is ..................................................................
Better to have them and not need them rather than need them and not have them.
However, i do realise the money would buy some plonk which is more important to some people.
Magnets dont stick to alloy in most vans like mine, bonnet and both sets of bumper/crash bars is all i have that is steel. The Amazon seller in that link is being rather misleading. As an aside, I was amused at the description on some sites as to how they are designed to be deployed without leaving your seat by leaning out and putting it on the roof. Good luck with that in your motorhome, although I suppose it might be possible in a campervan!
Yes, that's right. It's not gonna stick to your average motorhome. A campervan might have a steel roof which is why I said it might be possible, although you'd probably still need extendable arms!Magnets dont stick to alloy in most vans like mine, bonnet and both sets of bumper/crash bars is all i have that is steel.
