IDP and green card.

I’m confused about the transition period - I thought nothing changed but all the government information was telling us to get IDPs etc. Why?

The transition period will kick in if a deal is approved. However, if there is no deal, there is no transition period. So there is still a possibility that IDPs and Green Cards will be needed at the end of January.

I’ve just requested a green card - the first time they told me to wait and see. As I’ll be away when the latest deadline expires they’re issuing one but reluctantly I thought. Why? Apart from the postage what difference does it make to the insurers?

They'll get at least a fiver off you for doing nothing, so why not?

They didn’t actually mention a charge - if there was a charge they might have been less reluctant?
