A few years ago we saw the way things were going and realised that we would no longer be able to spend 9 months of the year travelling around Europe and the summer months back in the UK. We didn’t want to return to the UK permanently so we rented an apartment here in Bolnuevo, drove back to England and sold the motorhome.

A couple of months ago we sold our house in England, which we had been letting out, and bought the apartment here. Lovely apartment, lovely location, cost of living less than UK and we have plenty of friends here.

But. We miss the motorhome life! Visiting new places, meeting different folk and the challenges and excitement. With Spanish resident status and the absence of “hard” borders in the EU we could start all over again. Even if we never left Spain there’s plenty to explore. We don’t really want to do the long trips again so we don’t need a big van, we’re thinking along the lines of an Adria twin, Globecar, Hymer car or similar so we can get away for a few days or a couple of weeks. I’ve been looking around for a couple of weeks now and I’ve come across this baby - https://www.mascus.co.uk/transportation/used-motorhomes-and-caravans/citroen-jumper/rnyjqgrc.html

It ticks all the boxes and its all electric in the hab area meaning extra storage with no gas bottles. Problem is it’s for sale in Galicia, over 1000 Kms away at the other end of Spain. A long way to go to view and as I’m the only driver a problem getting it back here if we liked it.

So I’m still looking, fingers crossed eh?

Good luck pat ,we in March I tend to travel further afield all being good so it would be great to cross paths
hope you are both well

Pat, we will probably end up there in August some time unless there is a change in UK covid situation so if you liked it and could get it stored we can both drive and we have to come back to East Coast at some point.Just a thought , good luck ,know of others with similar plan.

Hello Pat, personally the distance should not be a worry, the journey may be worth it. I would use the journey as a short holiday excursion and schedule in a few other visits if possible. For what its worth we travelled over 2500 miles during 6 months of searching the UK for our first motorhome and learnt much in doing so.
We still have the motorhome after 9yrs and have never regretted it. Looking to upgrade next year possibly to an Adria Coral.
Good luck
Who will you be supporting on Tuesday and Wednesday?

That’s really kind and generous of you. I can’t get up to Galicia until next week but if its still available then I’ll go and have a look.

Good idea. I was thinking of making a trip of it next week, its got to be cooler in Galicia than here anyway :)

I’ll be supporting Spain on Tuesday and England on Wednesday. Hopefully I’ll be supporting England on Sunday.

Go for it, Pat.
We know exactly how you feel.

Circumstances have forced us off the road for good and lockdowns are making it hard to plan any travel adventures.

We're looking at the trains, particularly in Spain.

There's some fascinating trips to get you up north.
Fast, modern ones and cranky slow routes..
Look at the book, " Slow trains of Spain.. "
You could make it part of a holiday.
Good luck.

Perfick 😬

Looks like a good layout for a small van. Like the "outdoor table". Be easier sorting a ready converted van in Spain than buying one in UK ( even LHD) , friends did that and spent a fortune trying to get it registered in Spain as they have quite exacting rules which were hard to prove. Think the idea of making the search/ purchase part of a holiday is a good plan, bet you are ready for a travel round. Good luck!
