We will be travelling to the UK in a week or so to visit our Daughter for 3 weeks and will need a data sim to use in our mifi unit.
What can you recommend? We would rather buy one online, and the easiest way for us to do this is to use Amazon.

Ordered a Smarty 30gb card today. I won’t open it until just before New Forest meet-up.
If that’s not too late, I’ll let on how it performs.

The standard data sim that I and many other use in a mifi is the 3 (Three) 24gb DATA sim which is valid for 2 years from activation and can be used on the continent (up to 20gb) cost is perhaps a little expensive at approx £43

I have recently put a Smarty sim in my phone 30 gb for £10 per month on a rolling monthly contract. I recently tried it in my mifi on the advise of another forum member and it worked fine so this might be a better bet since you perhaps only need it for three weeks. It actually runs on the 3 network.

Ordered my Smarty sim at 1500 yesterday. It arrived in this morning’s post. Let’s hope that their mifi is as good as their dispatch service.
The downside to them is of course, no matter what ( non) contract you have with them, you will only have 20gb abroad. Maybe a second sim ? I think Nikki might have always wanted another SIM card 😚
I’ve used the 3 with legs for the last three trips. At 2 quid a gig that’s a lot of money. That said, you do get what you pay for. France in September, we’ll see how good Smarty is. Phone stays connected to Vodafone, 90 days.

Depends where you are going, I have used 3 for many years and only odd spots I haven’t had a signal so would recommend 3/Smarty. I think the best all over coverage though is EE

I’ve seen an EE sim on Amazon, apparently it’s 15gb, upgraded to 40 GB for £20. Looks a good deal, but how good is EE?
I don’t need it when we get home, we have Free phone sims with 100gb data for €19.99, which we can use in the UK ( 25gb allowance abroad each) but we need the UK data sim for our Mifi unit only so we can use tablets etc without tethering to the phones.

Just bought one like this, EE, 20gb,90days,£15. It's best for West and mid Wales although often there is no signal at all.

We’ll be in Cambridge, hopefully the signal in a large City, will be ok or I’m phoning Kevin Bacon........

I think where you are intending to be any of the big company’s will probably be fine, if anyone from Cambridge knows different shout out.
I would look at which gives the data you will need for the best price and go with that. It has been in remote areas where I may struggle with a signal but not so many and it’s rare to get none at all. A certain part of Newton Stewart in Scotland and the Kielder forrest in England have been particular failures though.

I have a Smarty unlimited at £20 per month on monthly contract. It’s actually 3 mobile. I run a Fire stick and an Amazon Alexa 8” Screen thingy. No issues with use age or signal. A cheaper way of getting data on a Mifi is to take out a phone sim only contract with unlimited data and put into Mifi. You are not supposed to but it works with 3.

I only need the sim for two to three weeks while we’re in the UK so we can use our tablets and laptops through the mifi unit.

You can have a smarty sim for 1 month, it can be ordered on line from smarty. Your Mifi acts just like a hub in the house. This will only work if your Mifi is unlocked.
