I found this today on a campsite website...is this discrimination?

We accept caravans, campervans and trailer tents, but not transit vehicles.

Perhaps they mean caravans pulled by large vans (transit vec) I have heard that these combinations arn't welcome at some locations

Hi Bushtrekker,

We have a policy when selecting sites. For years we camped in tents and as I am sure you know sites such as many CC sites do not let tents near them. Now we have the motorhome and are wellcome on them we give them a wide berth. The vehicle is different but we are still the same people and if a Transit was warm and comfortable. I would be very happy to curl up in it.

Lots of sites dont allow sign written vehicles so your local plumber cant tow his caravan with his van

He must think I'm a Transit owner.

I rang to ask how far the nearest bus stop was, as we want to catch the bus into Swanage to save having to drive. He said about half a mile, then I mentioned the folk festival and all changed. First he said they weren't open that weekend, but according to their website they are and I pointed this out, at which point he said they were full up that weekend. He was obviously scared of being invaded by drug fuelled hippies, whereas the nearest thing to a recreational drug I use is Piriton to control my hay fever, so I can actually do something during the Summer. Maybe I should have mentioned our bus passes....:D

Where is this site? I'll dig out the Love Beads and my Loon Pants. Anyone lend me a wig, the hairs a bit short nowadays.

I think they are aiming that at the builders van with a mattress in the back and a case of Stella for a pillow clique. Who have a right, blah blah, but you wouldn't want them next door. I have shared a space, with such a gathering and 'taint fun.

I like Transit's but i too could not eat a whole one (thank you gin+coke x many)

Someone should email them and ask them to clarify what they mean by "transit vehicles"?

As a Transit owner myself, I really can't imagine that I'd be unwelcome anywhere.

(Not that I'm too worried though, it's genuinely over 30 years since I stayed on a campsite!!) :):)
