I Despair!!!

Yes it is an offence. The water companies do get fined, but the fines are small and take a long time to process. Meanwhile the water companies are making millions in profits.
How come a water company constantly
Was curious as if there is an actual offence then there must be something can be done against the water company’s and the like

allows gallons of sewage to pour into the rivers and sea and everyone gets mad at one bloke.

It is an offence to polute a water course.

If a person/entity is tried and convicted in a Magistrates Court, they could be fined any amount and/or sentenced to up to six months imprisonment. If they are tried and convicted in a Crown Court they could face an unlimited fine and/or be sentenced to up to five years imprisonment.

It seems there's little we can do about either to be honest. :(

Who pays the water companies fines, we do, the customers, not the chief executives out of their personal remuneration.

Beaches here are the same in summer, bottles cans fags buts dog sh one t everywhere, never seen anyone getting pulled over it, time it was so and big fines.
Agree Trev,
My thoughts about this are for a motorhome group such as ours (are you able to sort a letter admin) to offer something to the island of Barra, in support of what they have done in bringing the offender to court and highlighting our more positive proactive consideration to others.

Possibly offer education leaflets for issue to all visiting campers & motorhomers.

Maybe sponsor an Elsan dump for a year so to show we are supportive of the islands and disagree with this behaviour.

Promote ourselves in a way to show we care about other peoples habitats and do not condone this behaviour.

What do you expect from Whitby, one of the most anti motorhome towns around unless you park on a site and stay there
Haven't gone there for a few years now for obvious reasons. Was virtually the only vehicle parked overnight on the big carpark sometimes .
Signs then went up which were totally unenforceable. From what was suggested to me at the tourist office they were put up as a gesture to complainers and just to ignore them . Got ridiculed on here for imparting this information .
My understanding , at the time , was that Whitby was controlled by Scarborough and they had no say in the matter .
Signs were changed and they appeared to be pukkah , I never noticed and got a ticket . I appealed and it was upheld. Made me think they weren't so pukkah but , basically I stopped visiting there
Big shame

"Andi Jones, 56, who runs a five-star hotel in the quaint town"

Says it all really Wully.
There’s a very simple solution, but it involves removal of green tinted glasses, a bit of lateral thinking, and a degree of pragmatism. Fit a couple of elsan points, stop trying to make out that stopping all motorhomes entering Whitby will solve all of your problems. Emptying cassettes anywhere other than a designated facility is disgusting, but failing to provide any such facilities, whilst complaining about them being emptied inappropriately, is stupid. But then I could be talking about hundreds of places throughout the U.K., who are being run by idiots trying to appease nimbys. Yet again we are portrayed poorly by a biased media.

The amount of vat I and others pay each time we buy a new van, is enough to pay for two elsan points. Is this really too much to ask.

For me it's the fact that the bloke is a motorhomer that gets my back up, we don't need the bad press.
Ideally the penny will drop with local authorities and they'll realise that it's car owners without facilities that leave £$%^ (literally) lying around on beaches and beauty spots and start allowing/promoting MHs access to aires and parking. A DH like him seriously hinders our cause and what we love to do.

yes merl you are sooo right. Everyone gets mad at the easy target and we easy targets must be good to combat that, and one DH messes it up so easily. but don't forget the toilet free zones in many campers not just cars and why is it that so many MH owners only piddle in theirs. Where do they do the £$%^ (there I have said it)? Are they able to hold it in for days until they come across a public toilet. We use ours as we use the ones at home, OK it means more disposal and that is why I have three cassettes. One is hardly ever used but it is insurance.
