I cut open one of my Lithium Batteries!

Wish i could afford to destroy a thousand quid.

Battery is still ok just missing a case so all you need is a box and away it goes. The box does not even have to be air tight as all the cells are sealed. I have built a couple of these from parts for our electric bikes 36v. Same principals apply. You can build any size you want as long as you can find a BMS for the voltage you need. All these cells are 3.2v but you can get different amperage ones. They also come in various diameters. I used a camera box for my home built 36v batteries.

Biggest problem with the design is if you loose a cell the whole lot is a right off as you would not be able to change one cell. The more cells you have the greater the chance of loosing one. You can of course run them down to 90% of capacity but trying to work out whats left in one is not easy as each cell will remain at 3.2v pretty much till it expires where as lead acid batteries have a voltage dependent on level of charge.

10 lead acid batts at £100 each will last 50 years same price as one lithium,at best most of us have 15 to 20 years left on this planet,so buy l/acid and booze the rest of your money which you have saved, hic burp.
