If you're serious, you need to go see it, and make a sensible offer, if it's okay, but the short MOT is a possible worry but also a negotiation point.

Being a high-mileage petrol engine I'd scrutinise the pile of bills to see what has been done and when. MPG may be a concern too if you have a low budget; no point in going for a cheap van if you can't afford to go far or often.

But having zoomed into all the pictures, it doesn't look too bad at all, but no view = no purchase.

I'll tell you a bit about whats going on,my dear old mam while on her death bed asked me to promise her i wouldn't leave my brother on his own.Now my situation has dramatically changed.He has stopped taking all his medication,he thinks i'm a murderer.He also thinks our dear old dead dad is a murderer.Now he wants me out,he's sort of bullying me.Loud music day and night,same songs on repeat.He thinks he's not my brother,i did a DNA test for him that proves 100% were brothers.I even said to him,if i murdered one of my x girlfriends would i have done a DNA test for you.Nothing sinks in,he even wont accept the DNA test.Its now 04.48 in the morning and the music is playing again.
This is just a taste of whats going on,i just cant do this anymore.I need to buy a van,i have to escape for a while before it's to late.

It sounds to me like your brother should be in care or at least have carers visiting if he refuses to take medication for what I presume is a mental health issue?

I would go to citizens advice if I were you and whilst they won't be experts in that field they should be able to tell you the correct people to talk to.

Yes that is where I am looking to go ....having had a "modern" Burstner with its indoor brain, as well as the engine electrics, jeeze not again

Simple if he goes out change the locks on all doors then ring the athorities telling them what has happened, they may then pick him up and taske him to a safe place, ok sounds rough but needs must.
WE had to do similar to mother inlaws sister who went bonkers, police were called and they took her to hospital where she was later transferd to a secure nursing home, some times you have to think outside the box.

If your situation is urgent your best bet would be to buy a decent unconverted van and camp in it as others have said.
You'll get a van in loads better condition. Maybe get a window or two fitted. Then possibly add stuff as finances allow....

I ran panel vans for years,and occasionally used them as tin tents,

All you really need is a inflatable mattress, and twin burner camping stove, porta potti and a camping fridge is a bonus. Folding chair is handy.
Most vans have a metall bulkhead behind the seats, it should just unbolt then you've got both light and ventilation via the cab windows.

Next lluxury on list would be a lleasure battery to run the fridge and a tablet. ( Access to internet via your mobile phone). The battery can be charged cheaply via a voltage sensing relay whilst you're driving, or add a portable solar panel.....think how tent campers do things rather than expensive mobile home sollutions
