I can hear the howls of complaint from folks already

Its actually not a bad idea. I bet you would still get the odd "tut" though on a site. :D

If Im on a rough and ready CL though or parked up in long grass I just let it run anyway. We are very careful though. No food goes in the sink and any washing up water gets slung in the nearest hedge or gorse bush. I dont think there is anything harmful in our shower water. Well not Mrs Ds at least, mine im not so sure. :D

Same here ....never any food waste in the sink ....(not with two whippets around ;-))

And only eco wash products ...

I might buy one just to raise folks blood pressure a bit when on sites .

Yes, the disposal of grey water is a matter of good manners and a bit of thought. I was pretty shocked when a MH allowed its water to run across a car park. I use eco wash liquid and there is nothing wrong with it going into hedges. Some campsites in summer actually ask you to water the hedges.
As has been said before its only the human brown stuff that must be properly disposed of.

Its disposal has more to do with how it’s perceived than any problems it causes. I have seen others dumping it in rural locations, and I have done the same myself. But I have seen others dumping it in urban carparks in full view of the public. I don’t reckon the C&MC would approve though, you may get a red card if caught using this, you see everything has a silver lining after all :)

I have a similar system it’s a small bucket with holes drilled in the bottom I place a J cloth in the bottom that filters the waste water and the cloth and the debris it captures is put in the bin, a cheaper version is a bag with grass or straw in the bottom taped to the outlet a few tiny holes in the bag allows just the water to flow through.

I think it’s a case of being seen by onlookers to be conscious of ‘Trying’ to do the right thing that brings LESS or unwanted attention to our lifestyle 🤷🏻‍♂️.
If you’re comfortable with your actions of lifestyle & decisions in disposing of ‘STUFF’ then hey, Sleep well 🤷🏻‍♂️

Exactly Bill. Its all about perceptions. Even if you know your grey water is basically water you washed in or brushed your teeth in. No worse than someone washing their car in the street. The general public dont know that. I would imagine you would be right about the C&MC though (you really hate them :ROFLMAO:). Cl owners wont care though. Least the ones I use. Some of the modern all singing and dancing carefully manicured ones might but ill not be staying on them anyway.

No food ever left on my plate, lick slurp lick. ;)

I recall the first time I went to a VW Festival (in Biggar, at the showground) and I needed to empty the waste water. Asked one of the organisers where I should go and empty the tank. He just pointed to a hedge.

As mentioned, I used to use the LIDL Fruit Juice bottles. Modified one lid to fit a hoselock connector on and and then had a piece of waste hose click in. Time to get a new "filter"? Just unscrew the cap and screw it on another prepared Fruit Juice bottle.

Don't open the valve all the way, just have it dripping. makes no more "bogginess" than a bit of rain would.

Considering that dogs pee where they like inc outside the van, whatever is in rainwater these days, I'd not worry about a bit of soapy water, I almost always forget to turn ours off anyway.

They are banned on CCC THSs and Meets. Too often they do contaminate a pitch in the middle of a field. On them you are normally told to empty your waste water round the edge of the field, if there is no grey water disposal point. The small animals who live in the hedges and field edges are happy to get any edible items.

I suppose if you were there a few days and had showers etc you might find you're parked on a bog and can't drive off...

LOL! I Did wonder about that. There is one place we often stay for weeks on end. Sometimes as long as a couple of months. Just a farmers field really, rough grass but I can confirm after two months in the same spot with the grey open constantly, I didnt get bogged down :D
