Hymer leisure battery fuse

Can anyone tell me if the fuses for the leisure batteries are on the positive or negative side of the battery on a B644 1999 >> Hymer. The cables are brown and blue which one would think was brown = positive but when wire like this the volt metre reads backwards. Thanks

The fuses will be on the positive side fairly close to the batteries themselves ( or should be ).

Ours are Blue and Black and the positive is Blue as i suspect yours is if the Volt Meter reads backwards.

No telling what self builders do, so always best to check by following the cable to the other end and seeing how it is connected.
Put the negative lead of the meter on the chassis and see which wire reads 12V and which reads zero

Would be very unusual to put a fuse in the negative lead though.

Thanks from Prague Wooie I replaced the batteries and did not label the cables later assuming brown was positive. regards Rommel

I'm sure the blue is positive on mine as mine are brown and blue
although I can do a check tomorrow and update this reply

Reversed leisure battery polarity ?

We've recently bought a Hymer B544 and needed to replace the leisure battery.
Against all my better judgement, I replaced the battery with the same terminal connections as the old one - i.e. Brown wire to Negative & Black wire to Positive.
Works fine !!

Yes i also found on our hymer that the blue was possative also,i thought that the step had been wired wrong.
I see now that the colours are differant.Tony in australia dont they have to fuse both wires?I read somewhere that they do.
