HYmer Camp electric troubles

As for the OP's problem how can they be connected. The fridge ignition system is not going to be connected to the lighting circuit it will probably have its own feed. If everything was working correctly when it went in then it's something they have done. They have trapped a wire and the cable is broken or stuck a screw through something. This will not necessarily blow the fuse it just leave the circuit past the damage without power. With your limited electrical experience I would just take it back and get them to sort it. The fridge not sparking could just be a coincidence or a blown fuse. It could also be switched to 240v / 12v rather than gas. Might be an idea to go exploring and find out where everything is located and what it does. Fuses / Relays / Pump etc.

You could also email Hymer in Germany and ask them for a wiring diagram. At least you will have some info for the future.

This is why I was asking for possibilities, I didnt know if they will be on the same circuit, I have now found and identified the fuses for lights and fridge(they are separate). I have a wiring diagram but the writing is so tiny I cant read it.

Everything was working before it went in to them as far as I know, the fridge certainly worked last time i used it and the lights were all working the week before they had it. The electric skylight with lights built in was fitted by them in October and was working over christmas because I demonstrated it to the son but as they fitted it four months ago it should still work.

I just wanted some suggestions of things they could have done to it rather than actually fix it myself because when it was initially just the one light under the cupboard they were denying responsibility and saying it was just the bulb, they are still trying to say it might not be anything to do with the work they have done :mad2:

You seem to have had a very bad run of luck here what about the dealer you bought it from. With a bit of better luck there may be a Hymer owner come along in a minute or two and explain where you might find the fuses.

Good Luck.

Alf

You wont believe whats happened to it now, apparently the truck bringing the light fittings from Germany has had an accident and they dont know when they will get tehm or what state they will be in. Im losing the will to live this week

hi
dont bother with the bulb change it to LED.

It is a strip light which is not as easy to change to LED and I still need the lamp cover that is with it but in any case Im pretty sure it isnt the bulb but something that they have done to the electrics when sorting the damp, as they needed to remove the cupboard that the light is attached to and now all the lights along the drivers side as well as the fridge igniter are not working.

I would take a careful look in the backs of the lower cupboards seat lockers etc Hymer seem to have a tendency to put joint blocks in various places ( normally in near impossible places to reach) some with negative wires some with positive , along with some of the yank stuff I have worked on in the past they must rate as some of the worst vans I've seen for wiring.

Thanks, its going back to them when the parts arrive, I will tell them to check carefully

Hi, I have a Hymer 524, Y Reg. Not sure of the layout on yours but mine has a long strip light over the sink and cooker, I replaced the cover on mine cost approx. £90 ish and I had to cut to size, sorry but you wont manage to do that,
it's acrylic and is very easily damaged. Above the door is the control pannel, that screws off, about 6 screws, the light wiring runs through that section and along the top of the cupboards, various connections link in the system by push in connections, including the centre light and other lights. Your bathroom light and dinette lights run as you suspect from a feed running down the other side of the vehicle.

I suspect the fridge wiring also runs near to the control pannel and down the side of the cupboard.

Hopefully they will sort it out for you.

You don't need a multimeter to check your fuses, just pull ONE out at a time look at it and see if you can see if the fuse wire is still there, some will be thinner than others, depending on the fuse power rating. DO NOT FIT A BIGGER FUSE IF YOU FIND ONE BLOWN. Report back. Good luck. :)

??

Don't forget you're 12v system must be on for the gas clicker to work on fridge

the 12v is turned on because some of the other lights and the tv are working, its the lights along the drivers side which are not

An update to my woes of the last few weeks:

The new window has been sorted by me at a cost of around £700 and the insurance will reimburse me, a lot cheaper that Autoglass quoted at over £2000 :D

The new light fittings have finally arrived after their truck crash coming from Germany.

I checked the fuses and can find nothing wrong, so it is going back on Friday for them to fit the light lens and trace back their steps to see what they can find.
