Hymer automatic advice on an S550 2.9

Hymer advice on an S550 2.9 with an auto box.

My neighbours are looking at a Hymer S550 with the 2.9 Diesel engine and an auto box. Not often seen with an auto so they have had trouble finding out about them. I know the 2.9 is thought of very highly. Slow but very reliable with love. How about the auto box..??

We used to own an Homer S510 on a Merc auto. It was a joy to drive and I don't remember any particular issue with the auto, I think we had the "kick down" checked and adjusted once and that was it.

my '99 S700 has the 2.9 turbo & is no slug.
never a problem with the auto box.
an absolute joy to drive.

Auto box is as well thought of as the rest of the vehicle, still need to do all the usual checks though. Might not of had an oil change for 20 years, thats no good regardless of how bulletproof the box is.
