Well Kaye is willing to give WC another go, which is great, esp as other day she wouldnt set foot in it ever again................ lol

Now from our weekend away, i must admit, i found storage space lacking and poor (from my design for a single guys van). and im going back to i think the more traditional layout. sink/cooker along one side, and toilet cubicle along the other.

Thanks to scotsy, i have a nice 4 ring burner to replace my 2 ring, a bigger and better fridge, and a oven. so its a case of just removing my old lot and from scratch building a frame (i need to buy a small sink, as the sink i have is one piece unit with the 2 ring and grill, seems a shame to slice it off, i will stick it on freecycle once its out)

The seating and bed is sorted, its solid and its where i store the sleeping bags, i guess i can work out where to put the pots/pans etc, in the cuboard round the cooker etc. but its things like shoes and wellies.

Im wondering how people store things, so they are in the same place and easy to get too each time (we kept forgetting where we put things etc, and then tripped over them!) so im thinking cuboard space etc.

I def need good lighting, so anyone who has bought and used and can recommend which ones to get off ebay that would be great, so i get it right first time. I guess once i have removed everything from the inside, its the best time to fit them.

seen those bolt down little safe boxes, are they as good as they say, and wheres the best place to put them? i guess somewhere where you cant take a swing with a hammer at it or lever it.

So thats it really, any tips or esp advice on not how to do things, from ideas you have found yourself would be great.

I might even have a go at putting in a extra window, for more natural lighting and that more space feel.

Where you store your twin batts and electrics too, i might has well get a matching pair when i get to that stage, just to be on the safe side.

Many thanks for hints and tips, Kaye has sort of come round to letting me have another go at doing it, and if it passes her standard then its more weekends away :) she sort of felt bad, as we had to give a interview to the cops, as when we got home, someone had cut through the hook up cable to the van (had nasty neighbours for over a year), so that tripped the house electrics and ruined everything in both freezers. And the woman copper said she likes older home DIY vans and weekends away herself lol.

ah will check out tesco then. im off to bovington tank museum and fossil hunting on the south coast mar/apr once got the new cooker etc installed, if you can wait until then. left side is a small draining board, then the round sink, then the 2 rings all in one peice of metal. its nice and works well.

done a lot of vans and all of them seem spacious and light. keep all walls and ceiling light colours, white is fine as all your accessories add colour.rooflights add light and are easier and cheaper than windows.keep any floor to ceiling walls to back or front of van, shower wardrobe etc.light colour floor. easyif you can, paint cupboards light colours too

Have a look at Convert Your Van Ltd - Camper Van Interiors and Furniture Kits It will give you a good idea as to what you can put in and where. I did all my van by cpying from pictures on this guys site. even popped in to see him a couple of times to look at the vans he had there. surprising what info and ideas you can pick up. He aint far from you either.
When I did my second van I got him to cut all the parts for me with his cutter machine. cost less in the long run than making mistakes.
Happy New whatsit mate. see you around soon.

I hate to mention the word campsite, but maybe to get your lady interested in motorhoming or broken in, it might be a good idea to find a nice little cl type or pub that will let you have electricity. Then you can take a fan heater and be as snug as a bug. Just let her get used to the idea and experiment and talk about different idea's.

Or there are several on here who wouldn't mind having your little lady stay with them in their vans for a few days. Just to get her used to it like.
I wouldn't mind and I am sure RT would oblige as he is a nice guy.:wacko::lol-049:
