Just been down to our local farm shop, and whilst there, I noticed some Chilli seeds for sale. They had various varieties/strengths, but I noticed that one in particular was advertised as (supposedly) the hottest Chilli pepper in the world at over 2 million on the Scoville scale. They are called Trinidad Moruga Scorpions, but I have since read that they have been overtaken by the Carolina Reaper.

Anyhoo, I bought some, I do like spicy food, and the hotter the better. I think this stems from when I was a kid and an Indian friend of my dad used to cook us red hot Curries, so I got used to the taste.

Once they are ready, I might make a pickle to add to Curry sauces, but I will try them diced and fried in first, just to see what all the hype is about.

I like Hot n Spicy food too, However NOT so much that it Masks or Overpoweres the rest of the Food it’s mixed with.

I REALLY like the Mild Sweet Chilli sauce too !.

I like hot and mild. In fact I will quite often have a Chicken Phaal but with a side order of Korma sauce.

The hottest Chilli paste I have tried was from a butchers in Wiltshire. I asked the butcher what it was like and he proceeded to dip a pin in the jar, wiped it clean with a tissue and then told me to just dab the tip of the pin on my tongue.

I did so and I have never tasted anything that hot in my life, that really was too much for me even. He said if you ate a teaspoonful of it you would probably die, or at least end up in hospital.

There are limits!

We have a chilli shop here in Brighton they recon Ghost chillis are the hottest I tried them as you can try before you buy and must say they blew my head off and I’m one for the hotter the better ones
 
We grow chillies most years, use some fresh and dry the rest, then blitz them into powder. They are dead easy to grow and don't look out of place in a flowerbed.

Do you start them in the house in Winter?
 
Love a hot chilli dish, first mouth full always gives me hiccups but they go after ten mins, then I'm ready to eat the lot.
 
I bought a bottle of Daves Temporary insanity sauce, Got it home & tried a wee splash on the end of a tea spoon:danger::help::eek::scared::scared::scared::scared:!!

I drank loads of water very quickly & got quite a good high off of it, no one else would try it. Cowards!

Somebody once told me not to drink water with Chillies Phill. Apparently it spreads the oils around your mouth and makes the heat worse when you stop drinking.

He said it is far better to eat bread or similar to scrape out your gobhole, so this is what I do if I overdo the heat.

You can start them indoors on a window sill, the sooner the better, and we usually put about 10 seeds in a 3" pot, they can then be potted on before planting in the garden when frosts have gone. Also good to plant between toms in the greenhouse.
 
Yogurt, Raita etc are good for cooling mouth down. But why would you do that, thats like boiling the kettle to make a nice hot brew, and then bunging a few ice cubes in the cup. ;)

You know you've had a good dish when you get a chilli buzz going on.

Drinking water makes it worse,always drink milk to cool it.
 
Just remember to dunk the bog roll in a bucket of water and stick it in the freezer ahhhh
 
There is a great video of Phillip Schofield doing the chilli challenge where they have to eat the hottest chilly in the world and are timed how long he can go without running for a drink I'm sure a clever Edina can post it. 😉😉
