It’s started already in Northern Ireland ..

So much for Blue Food Grade Hosepipes .. Go get yourself a Watering Can before they sell out :lol-053:

They can go stuff themselves.

My plants ain't going short of water and the amount of plants I've got I'm not wasting time b*gg*ering about with watering cans!

I'll stop hosing when the garages shut down the car washes. Vehicles don't need water wasted on their outsides to carry on working :p :)

Anyway, we've got Kielder and it's not dangerously short of water just yet :)

It will be when we start drinking it !

Here's what Wiki has to say:

"The reservoir's main use is to provide compensating discharges into the River North Tyne to support abstractions of water further downstream. It also underpins the £167m Kielder Transfer Scheme, where water can be transferred to the Wear and the Tees rivers, to meet shortfalls in those areas. In recent years, Kielder Water has become increasingly important, with underground springs ensuring that it always remains at high levels, regardless of the prevailing climate condition. This means that while the south of England is often forced to implement drought strategies and hosepipe bans, north-east England enjoys plentiful water supplies."

{feeeling smug}

There was some pie in the sky talk a few years ago about building a mega canal from Kielder to London. That'll never happen in several lifetimes! ;)

Never mind, f you run short of water down there, harrow, you'll just have to give in and move up north :)

Perhaps I should have put this on the Caravan and Motorhome Club Forum .. Anytime someone mentions best way to fill a Motorhome with water they all come out with the same old clap trap about only using Food Grade hose pipes.

Do they have a special pipe for filling up those ridiculous red buckets that they insist will put out a blazing caravan?

Woohooo does this mean we can now dump our GREY waste on the extremely parched land without getting in bother by the grey water police it’s official the government are advising re use where possible . 😂😂😂

Ahha, I've beaten them to it - I started doing this before the drought, in an attempt to avert it

We will just open all the lock gates and let it flow south.

God don’t start a thread on that. MF has one running about Drippers. The ones who leave the valve open after emptying. :lol-061:

Yes BLUE FOOD GRADE hose so that you don’t contaminate the water in the bucket or MH tank. I know some people drink it  but I much prefer bottled water when we are out and about.

We are stopping on a loverly site in France at 5he moment and the water out the tap is grey. God only knows what’s in it. The dog drinks it but I certainly wouldn’t.

We meet one couple last year who only fill there MH with bottled water while they are away and a Dutch chap who filled hi from a tap by the sea only to find out when he made a pot of tea that it was slightly salty.

OMG hose pipe ban ,How can I fill my MH without my wale hose electric fill system :newhere: .

They had better start thinking out of the box ..

Just drive over to Kielder, Baz, and rig up a sneaky gravity system to pump water out of the reservoir.

Or use your wale electric fill system. I'm sure there's plenty of places where you won't be spotted :) :lol-053:

It's Wimbledon tennis next week so I am hoping for some monsoon showers to top up the water supplies.

As long as Cliff Richard does not stand up singing in the rain.

Commercial carwashes use recycled water passed thru a filtration system

That’s just what is needed for the grey waste then it can go straight back in the tank again. Save looking for taps.

..

We have a lot of plants to water but we have water buts in strategic places, they collect rain water so we don't need hosepipes, apart from now when I have to fill the buts with the hose:wacko:

I have my own river running through back garden so i will bottle and sell it to the highest bidder.

Fair enough, but I don't really care. Bring it on. I'll still be watering my plants with the hosepipe :)

I bet there's more water than all the hosepipes put together wasted on showers, baths, washing machines & dishwashers, and that's just the starters! How are they going to restrict that type of water usage then?

No, hosepipe bans seem to be purely arbitrary and I'm not sure what they achieve. Maybe they were brought in originally because it's an easy cop out. It's the only type of water usage that's a highly visible/detectable activity because it takes place outside, and there are lots of 'neighbourhood watch' types - the nosy sort, not the ones who genuinely care about protecting their neighbours property - who will take great delight in policing a ban like this, running to the "authorities" if someone so much as lets a dribble leak from an outside tap.

:rulez:

Just sayin' :)
