Honking Honfleur!

Our final stop was at the huge aire in Honfleur. Never been inside but we've seen it from the harbour when we were yachties!

This is just the waiting area!

The point of this post is that 'The Management' was quite overwhelmed by the numbers of vans and the demand on the facilities. The sewage tanks were emptied into a bowser at irregular intervals, and they didn't get to this disposal point in time. That wet trail across the car park is not water, it's the overflow from the manhole cover in the middle of the carpark, but people just kept emptying their cassettes!

And this is where it finished up, a nice mix of toilet blue and green....the stench was unbelievable!

We had a lovely spot in the main car park, by some grass.

Just next to the large family who seemed to be there for the duration!

Missing it already....

Stop messing about fitting LEDs! Get the scooter rack fixed and point Hugo to the ferry :)

That's not full :D Last time I was there the boulders were not on the quay, as shown in the first pic, and it was lined with MHs including us. We were slightly puzzled as to why so many and found out as darkness fell. It was a seafood festival and we were treated to a musical fireworks display from a grandstand seat, absolutely fantastic. Does become a bit busy this aires but Honfleurs well worth the visit.

We were there camped next to the same family Wednesday night , gran was there sat in her chair no one spoke to her , the police also paid a visit when we were there as they were always quarreling . Be carefull by the edge of the grass as we got several mossie bites dont suppose they bothered that family .

We were there Tues/Wed night last week. Shame you didn't see our WC sticker in our rear window.

It beats me why you put up with this mess when there is a very nice free Aire just down the road at Riviere St Saveur.

There is a very nice campsite nearby called "La Briquerie" which we used last year and 2012. One has to try these places in order to express a valid opinion. Perhaps next year.....

La Briquerie was flooded out and unusable when we went but Riviere is on tarmac and with free vidange (Waste emptying) from memory.

Honfleur

Glad I've seen this thread, I was in Honfleur last year, but on a motorbike. So when I spotted the Aire I thought it would be great to return. There is a lovely looking caravan site just past the butterfly house, is this a better choice?

Not surprised. Everyone knows the French are dirty b*****ds which is why they smell.

What a lot of MH, never seen so many in one place, thought you were going to say there was a sale on, if we stop at a wild camping spot and find one other van, we are disappointed with the crowds, or maybe we are just unsociable.

Having stayed at Honfleurs I have not had the same experience as the OP. On the first occasion plenty of room and HU available. On the second visit there was a slight problem with the loo but was quickly and efficiently dealt with. The final visit was as per my previous posting. If you require a simple overnight stay it looks like Riviere-Saint-Sauveur will fill the bill. I ask the question, can Riviere-Saint-Sauveur provide the same ambiance, restaurants, harbour, beach etc as Honfleur has?? As previously stated there is a municipal camp site available in town if you find the aires full or not to your liking. Enjoy, less than 40 days and counting

I was hoping that was a tongue in cheek comment? I agree that a lot of French fellows have never heard of deodorants, but unlike some Brits I've met they are not usually overweight, ignorant, mean or xenophobic!

It must be comforting to some, that it don't matter how far down the food chain they are, there is always someone they can feel superior too.

Very well put! We have met some very nice French people that certainly outshine some of our own rifraf.

You havn't got in a queue at the check out then in the UK have you? as there gets some really smelly people there.
I have only witnessed very polite and helpful people over in France, and I'm the ignorant foreigner who can only speak English.

John.
