Anyone make their own beer ,i thought i`d have a go. I need some advice ,where to buy the kits and equipment from etc.

What part of the country are you in? There was a homebrew store on Clark street in Edinburgh where you could buy kits in packet form , just add water and yeast or purchase crushed malt for all grain extract which is an 8 hr process soaking the malt for 90 minutes at 66 deg then sparging water over the wet grain to extract the sugar then add bittering hop (early hop) boil for 50 minutes then add aroma hops (late hop) .
You can also add calcium and gypsum (water treatment)to the sparging process to replicate Burton on trent water which is recognised as having the best water for brewing. All grain extract sounds tedious but gives a note more scope to fine adjust to your pallet.
I like stouts but prefer them and dark beers in the colder months and lighter beers during the warmer season . I'm not fussed for the over hopped style nowadays more traditional beer but have been using Mandarina Bavaria the past couple of brews along with Cascade which is producing a lovely refreshing beer.
As Rob has pointed out the grainfater is a nice compact all in one system along with a couple of FV's your on your way to saving a small fortune by not going to the pub!

Couple of it does become addictive not just the alcohol but the whole process, and you will spend as much time cleaning / sterilising than brewing .
Another thing if bottling your beer i find that a pain so use corny kegs which is a stainless pressure vessel which come in various volumes.

WOW.. I`m getting a thirst just looking at the photos. I live in stoke on trent midlands, there`s a shop local ,jolly brewer i`m going to have a look at. i`ll speak to you later ,wife`s got an appointment at the hospital.

Another thing to think about when you want to refine your brews is filtration, simple setup using 5 inch water filter housing with 100 micron to 30 micron then 5 micron for a clear beer, and no it does not strip out flavour as some will have you believe unless you count floaters as flavour.
