I was trying to work out if my iPad could become a satnav and found this!!

I have an iPad mini 2 and use Navfree sat nav. I use a GPS dongle to provide the satellite data as the iPad did not come with GPS sensor.
Unfortunately do not have good WiFi at moment so unable to view Utube

Maps me acts as a sat nav download when online then it works off line . It's worldwide used it in Asia and us and mexicofound it excellent. Stan

CoPilot looks interesting, never tested it in use but put it on my iPad for a play!

Thanks for that info. I was aware of the needs for GPS however unfortunately I was mislead by the Apple salesman who obviously was not fully conversant. With his product As the particular national retailer, Currys, could not supply, I purchased elsewhere, so could not return.

In addition my dongle, purchased for an earlier iPad would not work due to Apple software problems which has subsequently rectified in an Apple update.

The iPad mini and Navfree make an excellent SatNav.

Final lesson learned with Apple, never again.

Edit. Unless the cellular iPad has a GPS receiver it is absolutely useless for any map related application out in the sticks as it picks up local WiFi signals to provide location data and these are not that thick on the ground in rural areas.

How do you report this idiot to the police? He is an absolute danger to everyone, even if it is a prank it may encourage some other waste of oxygen to kill someone by following his example
