Here We Go Again.

Don’t know how we all became such prudes! A man, or woman, always had the right to stop behind a bush for a minute, and in London public urination is common. As one of many men with a prostate problem I get angry with this poor attitude towards something we all need to do, especially when the finger is pointing at campervans when local yobs are drinking and peeing without comment.
 
Simple. If you don't have a proper inbuilt toilet that you are not prepared to use, then don't wild camp away from facilities.

Perhaps the warden should check this and move people on if they cannot demonstrate the facilities needed to be self sufficient.

I also blame Highland council. Closing a lot of their public toilets and magically expecting the tourists to find somewhere else to go.
 
I produced a veh and reg number to bunk campers of a customer of theirs emptying a cassette on NC 500 the lady I gave relevant info assured me they educate folks prior to departure procedure's etc.to date I have had no response back as she was going to
One of my sons hired one from same company and instructions min ,glad he knew the etiquette regarding motor-homing
No wonder bad names are easy to get
 
If they could distinguish between a camper, a campervan, and motorhome it might help, but we are all tarred with the same brush.

These people seem to think that people in cars hold on all day until they get home, but people in motorhomes and campers with toilet facilities do their business outside,
If there is a problem with people are dumping cassettes, then one solution could be to provide places to empty them.
Also anyone caught should be handed a hefty fine, and community service cleaning up tourists waste and rubbish
 
Funny that, I live a few mile south of our Capital City. 15 mins ago a worky van parked near my rear gates on the Brae, half in half out the van having a pish, he looked shocked as I exited my big gates Judas gate, I just said to him, mind and wash your hands……lol.

After Scotland’s breath taking win over Hiati, our lane at front of house, folks having a discreet pish, as was the van driver. If you have to go, you have to go, so wild weeing is not unique to Skye, plus, I don’t know why folks visit Skye?

On another note, I carry a small shovel within MH garage, if really pushed to empty cassette with no official dump area around, I dig a hole, well away from any watercourse, and in it goes, paper is binned in a bag and screwed down container, when full paper is burned safely.

Leave no trace was what I was told during my old ATC days.

What is your definition as they can all look the same. Especially to Joe public. Maybe it is time for some sort of official registered windscreen sticker as to onboard facilities and is on display at all times. I know this is no guarantee as to how people will behave but then nothing is.
 
A year or so after lockdown when this all seemed to flare up, I had a look at a few north of the border hire companies. I was astonished that quite a few of the smaller vans did not have a toilet. These then being rented to individuals with minimum or no experience.
 
I need to pee when out cycling, but I don’t do it in front of someone’s house. If people are discreet I don’t see a problem with piddle. No2’s are a different matter. They should be buried or at least covered with foliage and stones. Even out on a hill my dog has found stuff.

In the Skye report a crofter said he found the contents of a cassette in his refuse bin. That is beyond the pale.

And yes, we need more Aires and disposal points, but that doesn’t excuse “fly tipping.” In the US some (maybe all) NP’s require hikers etc to bag all their “waste” and bring it back. And you also need a permit to get in. Same in Spain in some areas you need a permit.

I don't think you will get any disagreement on those points.

My (our?) concern or grievance is that many of us are treated as pariahs for no reason other than the vehicle we use. Having seen some of the comments from some of the residents of popular beauty routes, I would hesitate to visit because of the open threats to key motorhomes on sight - even when legally and responsibly parked.

I hear the sound of duelling banjos in my head when I read some of the things people write.
 
We had a problem with someone crapping in one of our fields, don't think it was motorhomers doing it nearly every day 🤔 my best guess was either the Tesco or Sainsbury's home delivery driver.
