Help with fridge on gas

Got a new MH and been wilding for a few nights and I am noticing that it is getting
difficult to start the fridge off on gas. If say I have been using it battery for the journey then I switch it over to gas and I see the igniter sparking, I press in the temp control and I hear a little puff but when I release the push in control the igniter starts again.
After about 15-20 mins of this it eventually stays lit.
Is this normal? Has anyone else come across this or should I be contacting the dealer for a fix?
 
after it lights you have to keep holding the button in for a minute or two while the thermocouple heats up , otherwise it just shuts down again

incidentally I find that it is more difficult to start on propane than on butane , have found that on more than one fridge ; ask not the reason why ....no idea
 
maybe that is the problem I was only holding it in for 10-15 seconds. So 1-2 minutes is the norm?
 
is the probe of the thermocouple actually in the flame, cos it shouldn't take that long, about 30 seconds should be enough. if it is taking that long the couple is breaking down or its not far enough into the flame to heat up properly. i had it on one of mine in a previous van.

I agree with al n sal. You could also try lighting a couple of gas rings which will help to draw the gas through the system quicker. If this makes no difference at all then your thermocouple needs a slight adjustment.
 
it always seems to be slower when you have been on electric , pipe not full of gas
don't forget that when you press the button in the flame is supplied by a secondary feed while the thermocouple heats and opens the main supply

mine takes a good 2 minutes so maybe the thermocouple is out of line a bit ......half a day to get the fridge out , thermocouple lined up , fridge re-installed , gas tested......2 minutes will do for me :lol-061:
 
Could be a gas pipe leak- takes a while to suck the gas up the empty pipe?
