Help residential parking.

Its called harassment. Don't confront them. Buy a BIG CCTV Camera and put it on the front of the house. You also have to put a sign up that you have CCTV and are recording events. Take lots of pictures and keep a diary. He will get really pissed off if he thinks you are not bothered. If you park in the drive and want to go out and its blocked then phone the Police. As others have said keep a diary. Good luck.

We had a neighbour who built an extension into the hedge on the opposite side of her property. She then realised that she was unable to get into the back garden without going through the house so she decided that if she moved the fence over then she could use our side access instead. She argued about it for ages even suggested that it should be a joint path with her owning it and granting us the right to walk down it. We needed the path to get to our oil tank so we used to have to throw a line and haul the pipe over the fence. After many attempts at going to court and them trying to bring in all sorts of late defences we finally got a Judge that had her head screwed on the right way. Their expensive lawyer who they had consulted in London arrived by train in Nottingham with a stack of papers. She breezed into Court only to be told by the Judge that when she said her client was BARD from defending the case that is exactly what she meant and she was fed up with her clients total disregard for the law. It was quiet good really as we sat and listened to our barrister for some 30 minutes explaining what had gone on and showing the judge various photographs. At the end the Judge turned to their Council and said 'Now its your turn' then immediately said oppps 'Sorry I forgot you can't say anything' . Hate to think how much she cost. Took us a couple of years to get it sorted and a lot of anguish. We got costs awarded but the guy next door then said that because the property was in his mothers name and she was an OAP she had no money. We pointed out that she had a house and we could make her bankrupt as the debt was some £6000. They paid about 30 minutes before we were due in court by CASH.

The Land Registry then came round once the fence was back where it was supposed to be and took a load of photographs to put on file with the property papers.

Funny really but when you read the Deeds to the House it told you how the land had been divided in the first place. It gave dimensions and stated that each plot was 50ft wide. We measured ours and it was 53Ft and hers was 47ft. Years previously there had been a hedge which had at some point been removed. The neighbours had then put a new fence up but instead of putting it down the side of the property had saved money and fastened it to the front corner of the wall. So the boundary had crept.

Part of their papers submitted to Court was a plan of what they had purchased when they moved in clearly showing the boundary ....

Sound like your guy is just being a prat. Talk to the rest of the neighbours and just ignore him. Hope it all works out.

Update

hi all, some interesting solutions, so tempting ,however I do want to sort it legally if I can. sparks and wooie1958, thanks for the links.sharron the cat, yes we"re trying to stay calm, hoping it ticks him off. we called the police who spoke to him, said he seemed like a reasonable bloke, I think not. told the police that cos he was doing his garden he had to park there, said other neighbours had objected to him parking outside their houses which I knew was a lie and have since proved it cos I asked them. unfortunately when the police came I was out, and though my daughter told them what had happened I feel I would have got more done. basically the police said that he had promised to put his cars on his drive when it was finished, about a month. I have been to a christening this weekend so have tried to forget about it, however I am going to ring the police tomorrow and see if they can charge him with causing an obstruction. I don't want to seem to be telling them how to do their job but neither do I want to let a pratt like that get away with intimidating me. will update .

Telling them how to do their job can sometimes be exactly the way to go :)

If I had time to spare I'd tell you the tale about my sister making a citizens arrest phoning the chief constable beforehand to warn him she was going to do so and he'd better have back up ready :p

It was a very successful arrest! :lol-053: :D

Oh, please do tell.

Obstruction

This should be very simple!
The police used to carry two books of tickets around with them. Endorsable & none endorsable .
There are, or used to be, two offences if a vehicle was obstructing a DROPPED KERB( this distinction is very important as it shows that you may have paid the local council a bloody fortune for them to do the work & thereby you have permission to drive over THEIR footpath onto YOUR property. They charged me £600 to extend mine by one metre!).
Unnecessary Obstruction.
Wilful Obstruction.
When I was a paid fascist I have slapped tickets on cars for these offences ( I think they were both none endorsable but it could have changed by now).
I would think that the problem nowadays would be to get a proper sworn in (and at) Constable to attend the scene, instead of one of those nice friendly police community safety officers who have no police powers whatsoever ( unless that's changed as well):blah::blah::blah:

So you've moved the fence?

ahhh, go on, go on ,go on, you can"t tell half a tale.

Is it care in the community? something in the water? why is it so many of us seem to end up with prats as neighbours, or is it the English disease? It seems as times get harder and the gap between those with money and power, and those with neither gets wider, more and more of these people come to the surface, maybe if we had told them to stand in line like the rest of us, or to say thank you to people serving them, they might have realised that their shellfish behaviour would not be tolerated. These cowardly bullies, seem to know the departments to report people to, and the key words to get these departments to act. I know there are a lot of decent people out there, but my god it seems we are getting so outnumbered.

if only it could be that easy. he"s still behaving like a """"""", but at the moment I have backed off after going to docs and finding blood pressure way too high. he is doing tests and advised me to try and stay calm. tbh every time I think about it my blood boils. can"t trust OH to sort it as he can"t keep calm. just wish I could get in the van and leave em all to it.
