Helmsley Cleveland way POI Car Park

Another just come up. Not to me to someone else.

Further to your enquiry, I am pleased to be able to tell you that a decision has been taken to re-open the rear section of the car park for motorhome and caravan use sometime this week. Our Website will be updated in due course to advise of the exact date.
Kind regards

I was in Helmsley a couple of weeks ago, wanted to stop in the car park overnight, but saw that the overflow was closed and a sign on the barrier saying no overnight parking due to Covid-19 restrictions. It didn't stop a couple of Motorhomes parking in the area below the overflow, I asked one of the drivers if he was intending to stop over & he confirmed he was.
I decided to respect the council's sign and drove a bit further north to a nice viewpoint without any no overnight signs & stopped there instead. I see from the above post that they'll re-open the overflow at Helmsley soon and allow Motorhomes in officially so that we won't all get a bad name for ignoring the local council.

As much as I agree Micky about what you are saying in urban car parks. I have seen cars taking out table and chairs then enjoying a meal in an urban carpark. Would we find them as well.

Sorry Fisherman im a bit confused with your post?I am already referring to Urban Car Parks as this post related to Helmsley which is Urban being within walking distance of shops etc.

Hang am I reading this right you say for caravan use as well? That will cause problems with them blocking up the rear car park as will be tight once in to get out.I wouldnt want to tow a Caravan in there.

Sorry Micky.
You were stating that everyone putting out chairs and a table should be fined £50. I was pointing out that car drivers do likewise, we are not alone in doing this. I would not do so in an urban situation. But would your proposal include car drivers, or just motorhomes.

This is like the littering and fly tipping problem.

Any rules should be clear and regularly enforced.

Hitting people with on the spot fines would do the job, imo, or, if that would be too 'dangerous' for operators to enforce there and then, a ticket in the post as per the speeding fine/RTO system.

I don't say anything about caravans if you read it right Sandra does. If they do decide to allow caravans as well and it not just a slip of the tongue then that's up to them and just assuming tuggers would block up the carpark is no different to others just assuming motorhomers all leave litter and waste. Or is it a case of we can have something but we don't want you lot here . Sound familiar?.

mmm a bit tricky to answer but as I have said on a post today (cant remember if it was this one or Alnmouth one)Its not rocket science for local Councils to provide parking to include overnight for self contained Motorhomes and self contained campervans only.So far only a few Councils in England and Wales are doing this for a small charge or no charge.Majority dont want to help and put obstacles in the way to stop us even non legal signage.
