Hi my name is Dave and I drive a Toyota Hiace 4x4 High top camper, very pleased to have found a web site for wild campers (I am not alone) I live close to Leek in Staffordshire so like to head off around Buxton Matlock areas whenever possible with my oldest son...any ideas for a good weekend in that area much appreciated. (Party, festival atmosphere camp sites also sought for when the mood takes)
Any questions about the Hiace fire away I'll help where I can I'm also pretty good with vehicle electrics, inverters, chargers and generators
Cheers Dave

Bottom of Mam Tor is one of my favourite spots, it's near the Blue John caves, very quiet on an evening, on
a bit of a slope, but if it bothers you, you could drive round to bottom. Lots of lovely walks, not far from village.

Know it well

It is a great spot my lad loves going into the caverns (and the little gift shop!) Must admit I'm a stickler for level ground though, makes my head hurt in the morning if I'm on a slope (that must happen to others too) thanks for the post

I used to park at the top of the hill ,past the other mine, where the bus turns round. I've been parking recently at the other side of the collapsed road outside blue John. I don't think they own the parking spaces as there located on the 'old' road before the collapse. In any event they're not bothered. The tv reception is a lot better outside blue John but not as pretty location wise.

Hi Dave and welcome to the forum, have fun.

Mam Tor

If you park on bottom road below Mam Tor make sure you are parked in a proper space, as we had traffic warden move us last year,
(lucky we were sat in van), but no probs staying overnight. Does the old road belong to Nat Trust? I know they own some properties
along there.
