Heating but not on gas

We had an Alde system in our Bailey. We lived in it for over a year whilst renovating the cottage. Within a few months it went wrong because it was on more. We were told to flip the little yellow boiler dump lever for 5 seconds, every 2 weeks to let a bit of air in. Apparently it needs a cushion of air on top of the fluid. It was something like that anyway.

I loved having an actual radiator in the bathroom, but Bailey in their wisdom put the radiator fins all the way round the rear lounge at the back of the seating so warm air rose and caressed your neck, whilst you feet felt like blocks of ice.

In the Rubbish Rimor we are back to blown air and much prefer it.

Sounds like a poor installation but I suppose it depends on the van layout. Our front lounge had the radiators at floor level and the original owner could have opted for the blown air option which would certainly have benefited in your case. Our last van had this option in the bathroom and the radiator in the kitchen area.

I did modify the system slightly as it got too warm (for me, not the Mrs) around the rear fixed bed. The heating pipes ran around three sides of the bed, so I lagged them. This not only solved the problem, it improved the efficiency at the front of the van.

The one criticism of the Alde in our new van, Mobilvetta, is lack of individual control, there's a double radiator in the Garage (??)off which one can be tuned of, lucky bikes!, I think it's to allow a kind off under bedroom heating. And I wonder where the t'sat is located as when it reaches desired temp and turns off, the latent heat gives it another 2c or 3c of heat, so needs to be aware of these quirks. Also on handover the guy said don't worry about the bathroom (Bathroom? really) radiator not getting hot it takes time, nope soo wrong you'll blister your hand within 10 minutes!
