Health insurance required for EU entry

L is for Liverpool I think. But it's academic since any internet search using "LV" will go straight to them.
Correct - I'm sure I typed in 'Liverpool', but I was thinking of the Liver building [which used to appear on the dull, light brown cardboard sleeves that held the Premium Books for the Industrial Life Policies that were sold door-to-door all those years ago; so the error could have been an auto-correct exuberance, or a brain fart - or both :ROFLMAO:

When the new EU entry requirements are introduced in October health insurance will be one of the mandatory requirements to permit EU entry.

As a senior never had this before as considered EHIC and more recently GHIC covers the needs if medical attention is required. OK maybe payment up front to be recovered later but this was an acceptable risk.

So the question is, to those seniors who take out medical insurance, which will be compulsory on our next winter trip, who are the best providers and what are the typical costs?

In addition once you hit 70 how much more complicated does this issue get?

Presumably you can agree an excess to bring the premium down, and assume no existing preconditions.
No compulsory insurance rule with the new EU system, but GHIC alone won’t cover everything. For over-70s, providers like AllClear, Saga, Avanti, and Staysure are solid options. Costs do go up with age, but you can manage it with an excess—just make sure to declare any conditions.

The insurance you are searching for is probably the National Federation of Occupational Pensioners (NFOP) who offer a one price, (virtually) no health questions asked and is in conjunction with Civil service insurance company.
You need to be a member, costs about £25 annually. The policy starts on 1st march? and irrespective of when you join the premium is the same.
Used to be worldwide, but now an EU version is available at a lower price.
I have been a member for many years, but check the website as my info may be out of date.

Just got covered via the NFOP . Several quotes later I should add . Best was LV £180pa but no cover for existing conditions .
As you say they use Civil Service Insurance . They refused to cover me . Joined NFOP , back to CSIS , all done .
Paid £180 for coverage until March . Full price is about £360 .
Great information , thank you
