We ordered a rapido V68 with the fiat auto box in July and were given a vague delivery date of spring 2023.

We were informed yesterday that the new vague delivery date is September/October.
We are fortunate we have a van, and we will be able to do our trips this year.
But this raises other issues.
First I will now have to pay for a 4 year service in June, and an MOT.
According to the contract we will have to pay the price in force at the time of delivery.
Our own van will have higher mileage, will be a bit older, and may not trade in as well as we hoped for.
Also we have the issue of the Habitation service for warranty purposes.
Although I have decided that under any circumstances am I paying for this.
The dealer can do this if they please.

Has anyone else had similar issues, any info, or planning a new van.

I'd be backing out as the delivery date has changed by a lot, if this is in the contract I'd say it was an unfair term as is the price change.

Cancelling might be an option if no cost.
But that is then "frying pan and fire" ! And all will likely cost even more.
No help really !

The delivery date was vague.
This new date is also vague.
To be fare to Rapido they did honour prices last year, but I am open to a price hike as per the contract.
Also this is a fiat issue, not a Rapido or the dealers fault.

I get that but it's you who has to foot the bill in the end and that isn't fair, my finances wouldn't stand it, nor would my principles.

Hi, we had a similar issue. We ordered a Wildax Pulsar (Fiat auto chassis) in July 2021 for delivery in Jan/Feb 2022. This got delayed and then in April we were told that Fiat couldn't fulfill order so our order was cancelled. The dealer said our options were to get a refund or reorder, potentially with May 2023 date and at least 10k increase! Unfortunately we had traded in our camper when we ordered (to get best price). We decided motorhome market was too uncertain, so decided to get a demountable. We were going to get a second hand pickup, but luckily found a good deal on new pickup and NSR Leisure imported a Leisure Camper demountable from Sweden. We were back on the road in July 2022 and whilst few minor teething issues (getting insurance, categorising the van on ferries, getting used to driving it etc), no regrets and love our demountable.
Hope you get your soon, understand the frustration and disappointment.

they seem a good idea on the face of it, but the MPG is horrific though compared to a MoHo.

Yes I heard that Wildax had ordered 80 vans from Fiat and were told that they were only getting half of what they ordered. They were not alone, other companies had the same issue. Sorry to hear of this, must have been awful for you.

Sorry to hear all this, how frustrating.
Got no idea how I'd proceed, without doing a lot of homework/weighing up options.

Still, recently been told there is a year wait for a new Ifor Williams box trailer. There ain't no processors or chips in that. If theres a year wait for something as simple as a blooming trailer who knows what happening on components for vans.
If it's any consolation, my van left the factory on the exact date the dealer told me 5 months previous. Still that was 2016, different times.

I ordered a new Fiat 500E for my wife last February and was told 6 months lead time - latest estimate is now next month, ie a full year from order. Similarly I ordered a Tesla Powerwall and Gateway home storage battery system for the house last January. Was told 3 months lead time and I still haven’t got it. Ordered new spectacles today and was told 2 weeks - I wonder when I’ll get them.

To be honest Mark the delay does not bother me to much, I have a van to use till the new one arrives. My concern was in July rapido will be putting prices up, and I wondered if I would have to pay more, but they have confirmed my price is fixed, the dealer reckons it won’t make much difference to the trade in. My only expense is I have to have a mechanical and hab service done in June as well as an MOT costing £675. The fact that Fiat have confirmed the order is significant. The wait continues, but it won’t affect our trips.
