Happy 20th Birthday Wild Camping

Truly an amazing achievement! Thank you from a newby, the site is full of information and humour, well done.
Steve.

Thanks for all your hard work and support Phil. This forum got me out of the house in some of my dark times and the gatherings always lifted my spirits. Buster also always loved them and if the bags were by the front door and van was parked outside the house he always went to it expecting to get in.
May we continue to meet up for years to come.

This might be a fun thing to see .....

Belated Congratulations & 20th Birthday Phil for a great forum from which I have had great info, met lovely people and had 10 years of Wildcamping fun 👍

Well, where has time gone?
I have been here for 11 yrs and quite amazed how the community has generally stuck together.

The middling years were honest and raw with some members getting overly sensitive or angry with others. There have been a few notable verbal fisticuffs, and some diarrhea spouted by some.

Recently in my opinion there has been a noticeable shift change preventing some from being able to throw spit onto the sawdust. Having to be selective or hide the spelling of words that are potentially abrasive or considered offensive.

I have had my nuckles wrapped for some comments that had intended humour but were construed incorrectly or seen to be non PC.
(Not the reason for not partaking in frequent dialogue over the past year - have been travelling and not had the inclination to get involved)

So here I am in Washington DC, heading home, and ready to join in again for a few months at least.

Phil:
I shall buy you a deserved beer or cider when we meet next as a personal thankyou for your contribution to this community, also your dedication and personal suffering at keeping the members happy ish.

Never easy, with such a diverse congregation.

Overall, you've done superbly and worthy of being a site administrator from Henly in Arden.

See ya soon, take care, keep well.

A truly great effort which is and should be, being rightly recognised by all of us on here. I've been a member for a few years now and wouldn't be without it, full of useful and not useless information. I too have had a few gnashing of jaw but also .any tears of laughter especially at one of the worthies ( who could that be Annie?) But Phil is an immense presence and always has encouragement and support as well as grateful advice. So here's to the next 20 and many more after that. A huge thank you to everyone who makes this site so good👍👍👍

A lot of helpfull folk on this site, and ejits like me. 😂
See Trev, your now likely going to get me into trouble with the PC admin people.

Here goes:
I agree there are a lot of Ejits from Ireland, should know as married to one.
I guess it's to do with the water, or whiskey on the gum when teething.

But to balance the discussion, there are as many ejits in Scotland as well, so don't feel too lonely.
All that batter on the Mars, in my humble opinion.

As for the Welsh, we shan't go there - don't have enough fingers and thumbs.

And finally the English, of which I am one.

Many will probably have to think about that last sentence I guess.

Sorry for treading on Phils glory forum. Tee Hee.

It has now been 20 years since I started this online community. I cannot believe that two decades have passed!

95980 Members have made 1.3 million posts that have been viewed several billion times.

We have had our ups and downs, and I have made many mistakes. I have some regrets but many happy memories.

Having a community where no member is more important, no member has more power, and everyone's nonabusive opinion can be shared has been why this community has endured.

I hope we have another 20 years.

Our longest-lasting members on their original account are:
(oldest account first)
  1. Jann
  2. Kontiki
  3. Donsider
  4. clarkpeacock
  5. rwhites1
  6. David & Ann
  7. CROSSHEAD
  8. cowanhouse
  9. keithhep
  10. ian81

I want to express my deepest gratitude to all the members who have played their part in this communities journey. Without the members who post daily on the forums, this community would wither and die.

Please all pat yourself on the back, as this is our achievement.

Phil
Brilliant job Phil over a lot of years....well done.

Congratulations to everyone who makes this group, this page and the members all feel so special. A special gratification must go to Phil for without him there would never have been that initial idea. So from all of us to you Phil well done and hope there are many, many more years of joy, pleasurable gatherings and information to keep us all together.
