Handbrake slipped

Been starting with foot on clutch pedal for so long it's become second nature, apart from in my van, which is auto. lol

despite all the theory about leverages etc, occasionally properly applied and seemingly perfectly working handbrakes do let vehicles roll forward, see my previous post about friday morning for one example, imho leaving the vehicle in gear on a slope is a no brainer.

tractors and ride on lawnmowers have had cluch or handbrake interlocks fitted for decades.... they can be a pain in the posterior when the switches and wiring are encased in years of accumulated mud and other materials but generally do what theyre supposed to.

Really?

I'm amazed that anyone would ever try to start a vehicle without checking it is in neutral first.
Also, my Citroen Relay (same vehicle as Peugeot Boxer/ Fiat Ducato) handbook insists that the van must ALWAYS have handbrake and low gear engaged when parked on a slope.
I use reverse because it's even lower than 1st.
