Hand brake.

Anyone know where the tightening nut will be to the hand brake?

It's an Adria Coral 680 SL on a Ducato 18JTD LWB. The hand brake is low down on the right hand side, there is no obvious cover that I can see that would give me access.
 
Thanks Richard, I was hoping it would be simple nut tighten. Will probably get the mechanic to sort it.
 
There may be a ajustment under the van if its a single cable working a loop and pully sys, also rear auto adjuters may be siezed and shoes fooked.
When replacing shoes its best to fit new rear wheel cylinders as well if your wagon has them rather rhan discs and top hat shoes.
 
If its anything like a ford there is a central rod that fastens to an equalizer bar and then two cables are connected from the rear brake calipers to the equalizer bar. Adjustment is made on the screwed rod section of the cables which go through the equalizer, not a difficult job.

It sounds like you are describing this kind of setup?

The above photo is of my VW T4

But .... if my memory serves me right, there was also an adjustment on the handbrake as well. The one in the photo for the larger adjustments and the handbrake lever for finer tuning. This might be the case for other makes?

Are you sure there is no cover you can make it? there will always be a cover over a handbrake and I know there is a removable cover on the Ducato X250 (2006-2014) van as I have removed it a few times!
I've not adjusted the handbrake tension on the Ducato myself so can't tell you if it will reveal anything when you get the cover off, but it will come off :)

I am sure there isn't a cover but I will have a good dig around after the weekend when I'm back from galivanting. The hand brake is level with the step into the cab and almost butting up to a where the Truma is sited.
 
not watched it, but this might help?

If your ducato is the X250 model, then this video shows the cover (it is a combined handbrake cover and seat trim - maybe that added confusion?)
 
Great idea Rob, I'm a dab hand with a mallet!

A mallet has a wood or rubber head and is for the use of newbies

Real Motorhomers use Club hammers for delicate work and sledgehammers for other stuff.

I have quite long arms but it is still a reach I find, so after seeing Carrots (a fellow forum member) van when he was over at my place, I decided to copy what he did and fitted a Rare Spares handbrake extender.
I think it works very nicely :). Here is a video of someone fitting one to give an idea of what I am talking about ....
