i have had a problem getting on this web site re directiond did not work it just came up beb site not found i have had to re search to find it on google and have now added it to favorites again
?whats up ?
 
Admin did some maintenance a couple of days ago. It's all better now:D:p
 
The server has been under attack from hackers for a week now.
Hopefully it is all over now and I can sleep at night!

i may sound a bit thick for this question ! but here goes. why the hell would hackers have a go at this site, shurely these types only hack into some ones computer to steal info to try to defraud, ie get cash and the like how the hell can you steal things that are free ??. i am a bit behind the door with this tech stuff so please enlighten me someone if they want to know about wild camping just join its got to be easier for them :confused::confused:

Hi, some hackers are not only in it for what they can get, they can also be very malicious, i know a guy with a retail web site who was plagued by a hacker who changed his prices & descrptions etc. so i can sympathise with admin on this one:(
 
yes i think we all feel sorry for admin, must be a nightmare, and he is doing a brill job, he must realy enjoy this site as much as we all do. i understand that some may like to see this site go under, especialy other sites that charge a fee for people to enjoy themselves not saying it is any thing to do with that. but there have been some disgrunteld folks in the past, that may like to see this site down
 
This server is quite powerful and sits on a very fast internet connection (1000 Mbps). Hackers attack the server to gain control of its core functions. First they use it to send out millions of fraud SPAM emails, then they use it to brute force attack other servers.

It is always a running battle with them.

They actually hacked SmartMania that also runs on this server.

I have upgraded the server, increased the security, closed as many security holes that I can find.

I have also upgraded the software that this site uses from 3.5.4 to 3.6.8 (the latest release) but that ment spending more money :( . However now with the adsense running over a year the site should pay for itself.

I have a few more thing to do on this site, but then it should all be good.

Just on a side note you will now notice that there is a "thanks" button by the quote button at the bottom of other peoples posts. So if you think someone has done something good or you want to thank them; click thanks. You will also notice that everyone has a thanked counter now by their post counter.
