Ground Clearance

Hello,

I intend to increase the ground clearance on a few vehicles next year.

The easy one is going to get some blocks between the U-bolts and axles and then the biggest tyres I can find.

Has anyone any experience of this procedure carried out in vans, trucks, buses and motorhomes?

Managed to put bigger wheels on? Found some really fat tyres?

Any help most appreciated.

Bye.

If you are looking at putting bigger fatter tyres on then you will cause problems further down the drive train. Diff, driveshafts etc. It would be better to uprate the whole axle, especially as you will be carrying a heavy load.
Most motorhomes run near the max weight limit anyway. If you get a coachbuilt, you will be limited on tyre size as there is not a great clearance to start with.

Your best bet is to look for a heavy vehicle that has been converted.

If you look at army vehicles the tyres are thin but mud and snow type, this sort of set up will cut through the mud and get down to the solid stuff that you can grip on. As far as protecting the van, plates under the engine work wonders
