Flipping heck, you lot all seem to have got off incredibly lightly. Our garden bench was blown about 2 feet along the patio so now I’ve got to push it back again!! (and we’re in N E Scotland)

OMG, I hope nobody was injured, it must be incredibly upsetting for you. Maybe see a counsellor specialising in PTSD?

I am sure the entire forum will hold a candlelit vigil for you.

We have lost the four polycarbonate sheets that overhangs the rear patio doors.
The framework is still there, it's just the sheets that have blown goodness knows where.
Bugger.
They were blown so fast they went backwards in time and ended up in our garden a couple of months ago.

Good job you lot never lived in Buxton, we used to get wind there :)

Mind, at one time we used to get a lot of snow as well

Three teenagers die after car hits tree https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cy0p8g2x4rzo
Puzzled about why this is posted here. As far as I can see reading all the articles this is not weather related. It regrettably seems to be the tragic (and unfortunately all too frequent) tale of several youngsters - in this case it is reported that there were 5 in the rear seat of a Seat Ibiza heading off out and the car leaving the road and hitting a standing tree by the roadside. It happens up here and the police beg youngsters not to show off or be egged on by their peers to drive faster.
Something really needs to be done about it - for example banning passengers under a certain age until the driver has so many years of experience, or not allowing youngsters to drive high powered cars.

I’ve got three weeks before the motorhome show at the SSEC Bill think I’ll need a bigger machine 😂🤑 we done 10 storm damage jobs today between 5 of us. Estimated another 20. I have 20 to do tomorrow. We took over 50 calls today and expect the same every day over the next week or two. Absolutely mental every house in our area has some sort of roof damage different generation not doing basic maintenance on there property. I’m fair I try and spread the wealth. I done 3 local pensioners jobs as freebie’s today just a few tiles and a bit of gutter but doing that helps me with my conscience and karma 😇

Hi Tony, I was out shopping and this came through from the BBC. I wrongly assumed due to the tree it had something to do with the storm. But yes it’s a real tragedy.

Doe are working flat out here cutting up fallen trees on roads, never understood why they allow trees to be at road sides these days.
I know it was used to strengten roads through boggy ground over a 100 years ago but not needed these days, move them back 50 yards.
