Government warning for tomorrows weather

Just received a government warning in our mobile phones up here for tommorow.
Winds gusting up to 100mph forecast.
All schools closed, no public transport running, total shutdown.
Particular attention to coastal areas.
Anyone planning to come up here tomorrow, I would cancel it.
Both our phones rattled out the audible alarm, Bill. I thought I'd been caught out for looking at the wrong websites.............Busted :giggle:

Bunch of namby pamby you lot up there.

I don't ever remember schools closing down no matter what the weather threw at us. And we still had to wear short pants and I certainly don't remember having a top coat to go over the blazer.
I remember chillblains, ears that felt as if they would snap off and snot icing up.
No lifts to school neither, cars were a rarity so it was a 2 mile trudge through snow, ice, wind and rain.

Aye, boys were men then, we were made of sterner stuff. And the poor girls had to wear skirts, it must have been frigid up the Khyber Pass, poor lasses.

Some of the pre-fab classes had no heat either. And you had to go out and play at break time and lunch time.

Them were the days.

Actually Terry, I read that the weather is going to be mild in Scotland tomorrow😢😱😨😱
Typo Ral, WILD. Anyhoo, we'll see how it all pans out, it may turn out like Hogmany, where all events were cancelled and, the wind turbines stopped turning due to lack of wind.

Wil we see more of this, Wully?

Just listening to the shipping forecast for Scottish and Irish Sea coasts on the radio (5:30 am).

Mostly predicting storm 9 to violent storm 11 and up to hurricane force 12 ...

Deep Atlantic storm moving up from the south west.

Batten your hatches, get the rum out for the lock in, and lash that green mankini cabin boy to the mizzen mast, me hearties! 🏴‍☠️ ;):ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

OoooArrrr! I bet there is still some clowns out surfing or Kite surfing. :D

I remember being out in an 8-9 once coming into Poole Harbour in a 27ft cruiser. That was "interesting". :D The owner who was a work colleague had not had it long and knew nothing about boats and invited me down for the weekend as an "expert" salty seadog type. :D I just remember swilling beer and laughing my head off while he was crapping himself. :ROFLMAO:

We got caught in a force 10 12 miles out from Bridlington in a 30ft fishing boat Barry, biggest waves I have ever seen.

It was scary but I don't get seasick but all of my mates did so I too was swilling beer and eating sandwiches whilst they were having a puke fest. When we eventually got back to the harbour we had to wait outside for an hour or so until the storm passed, the skipper said that if we tried to go in there was a chance of hitting the bottom if we went down in the trough of a wave at the entrance which had happened recently with fatal consequences.

The north sea can get pretty lairy for sure. I would have joined you on the beer though. Never remotely been sea sick. :D
