We almost went today after climbing the mountain in my "Spaz" chariot. Decided it would be stacked so went to Middleton in Teesdale instead and over one of my favourite passes. If you are ever up that way do give me a shout, assuming Im around.

Will do Barry, it's one of our favourite stopovers on the way to and from Scotland.

From my own observations seems highly probable.
Firstly we have the 'great british public' who do like to chuck their rubbish such as half eaten sandwiches out in the countryside (just this afternoon I was clearing up some sandwich wrappers and crisp packets that where chucked in one of our fields), then we have Muntjac in huge numbers who will investigate and have a nibble of anything they find lying around, next thing you know we have a outbreak of FMD which this time around is likely to spread much faster.

That is true. The A66 is often disgusting. I can't believe people in this country just chuck their crap out of the window and its way too dangerous a road to send a cleaning crew out to clean it. They should shut it on a Friday and let everyone know its shut for cleaning. That might focus a few minds into looking after the place a bit more.

Butchers/Bakers at the opposite end of town is also very good. For a beer or two go in Hawes Club next to the bridge and falls. Leave the pubs for the tourists.

They are superb Rob. You need two though really. :D We ended up at the chippy at Middleton in Teesdale yesterday having given Hawes a swerve and Michelle went in and came back with the food and said "They do the Wensleydale Cheese fritters in there as well!" I was well pissed off! I didn't have the heart to send her back into the queue though having already waited 25 minutes. :D

Thats another one worth visiting if you are ever up here. They do the the best Pie in the country. Literally. You wont manage two of them though. :D

Here's a proper challenge for you. Ride to Hawes, scoff two Cheesies as an appetiser. Then treat yourself to a blast over the Buttertubs pass, over the top to Kirkby Stephen and Brough then the spectacular ride to Middleton in Teesdale to quaff two Pies. Take your tent as you will need a lie down after that. :D

Oh and you will need a bike. 😵‍💫

I keep looking at bikes every day at the moment. I haven't broached the subject with Julie Yet though. 😨

Re-fitting the van's the priority for this year, all of my pipe dreams have to wait until that's finished - and progress as usual is slow! :(

Do we take that to mean that in the gap of 13 minutes between your last two posts Julie said "Your not getting another bloody bike" :LOL:

Im hardly going to get to use mine again this year. Off at the end of the month, back a month later for a couple of weeks then off again until feckin winter probably. I sometimes wonder if its worth keeping it.

Nah I daren't raise the topic Barry.

Next year I'd be happy with an older bike that I don't need to garage, not fussed about too much power at my age but reasonable.
