Good news. .......Wheel clamping!

You could just lock a stinger device across the entrance, or a removeable locked post, or just a simple gate.

Why should we the property is PRIVATE>> with notices to that affect. :sleep-040:

Really good news my son was clamped while in University and they would not release the car until he paid.
We tried to complain and get a refund but they would not even reply.
Was in Staples car park My family and I have never been in the store since.

Why was he in Staples car park whilst in University ? I presume because it was free ?

Where would " legitimate " Staples customers park if it was full of University students ?

Hi,
We live on Dartmoor and have a large car park, had people having lunch, going to the pub, even people using as toilet, times like that I wish I had a very large dog!

I guess because some arrogant people put up notices outside their property indicating 'Private Parking' when its OUR PUBLIC ROAD!!!!!

Even when the land is genuinely private, there is often no indication of where the boundary is.

Look at this one in Kettlewell. The signs say Parking by Invitation Only

I knocked on the door to ask who I needed an invitation from to park on the public road. Nobody Answered.

So they want a piece of OUR PUBLIC ROAD to be left unused ready for someone they may invite to use OUR PUBLIC ROAD.

Plus there is no indication of where this so called restriction begins and ends

We have the same problem in city centre. We are the only business in the area with a private car park. We have a Grills for Teeth ( Yuk ) next door which attracts some very unsavoury low life who think they can just park where they like. So we lock the gates. They have now started parking between the gates so we cannot lock them but it also means we cannot get in and out. Police are not interested they just say it's a civil offence.

You could run a chain across via the back of their steering arms. No way they can get out of that without doing criminal damage, which is a chargeable offence. Tho it might be construed as the equivalent of clamping.

BTW, it doesn't take long to remove a tyre valve & flick it under the car somewhere. Not many people carry spare valves these days (altho my Dad always did, until they said he was too old to drive at 90!)

Well I eventually found the occupier, and must admit his reply has me foxed
He claims the cobbled strip is private property, and since that constitutes a 'dropped kerb' it is illegal to park alongside it.
So perhaps I could have chosen a better example of a 'Private Parking' sign alongside a public road.
There are plenty of them.
