We are looking for advice on going Full Time in our Motorhome.
We are planning to go Full Time from April 2010. We are regular users of our Motorhome so see this as a natural progression.
Outfit
Hymer S700 (7 metre) with Trailer and Smart Car.
Address
We will be giving up our rented home. We can use a family members address for mail.
Insurance
We are with COMFORT at present so we will be checking with them for Full Time insurance. We already have 180 day per trip cover for UK and the Continent.
Medication
We both take regular medication for high blood pressure etc. At present we get repeat prescriptions for 2 months. As we will be on the move I asked one doctor in the practice and he said it would be ok to have prescriptions posted out to an address where we could pick it up from i.e. a campsite. He is retiring next month so others may not feel the same way. He did say they would need to see us from time to time for checkups.
We intend to also go to the continent for extended stays of longer than 2 month. We asked last year about this and they were willing to give a one off prescription for 6 months.
If we are on the road, I understand that we may not be able to stay with a practice in whose area we are not resident. Does anyone know more about this? The family member we can use for mail does not live in the practice area either.
Can anyone point out any other things we need to take into consideration? We have read the A to Z of Long-Term Motorhoming by Barry & Margaret Williamson.
