Get your eyes tested......

Maybe taking a latest dated eye test prescription document is something else to put in the van now

Testing

Interesting that it is proposed an instant revoking of licence. Does that mean someone could be stopped, licence revoked then go to the opticians for an eye test, get an up to date prescription which would enable him to pass the eyesight test BUT would he get his licence back or need to take a driving test again? It would also be interesting to establish how the drivers would be chosen for a roadside test, presumably if it was proven to be a disproportionate number of elderly drivers this could be "seen" as victimisation?

I had mine tested on Tuesday last week, not much different from two years ago.
I think what puts people off getting their eyes tested is not so much the eye test which can be free but the cost of lenses and frames, mine which are for varifocals cost in excess of £320.
Just get it done.

Poundland £1 gone up from 99p ! I'm fortunate only need 1.5 magnification . When I first realised my really good eyesight was failing I bought prescription specs £300+ , sat on them a month later .
Friend who has always worn glasses , last test was told eyesight had improved slightly . Apparently , as we get older , this is not uncommon

It breaks my opticians heart to tell me my eyesight is unchanged, each year.

Reading glasses, bog standard +3.
I get a couple of pairs of Tesco or Boots cheapos and £5 worth of Pound land almost disposable readers for use when out and about.
I leave a trail of broken or lost £1 glasses behind me, through Europe and UK.

I think you need stronger glasses, you can never find your wallet when it's your round!

Nor spot a booby trap when emptying cassettes!:raofl:

Last time I had my eyes tested, I knew I needed glasses for reading, but was asked by the optician if I would like some for distance. I said "do I need them"? His reply "no, not really" Hmmmmm, who can you trust?

Stoped once by police and ask how was my eye sight, well i said i can see the moon coming up and thats three quarters of a million miles away so how far do you want me to see osifer, well i was a bit piss-d at the time.:lol-053:

I'm just wondering how many people read this thread and rushed outside to check number plates? I'm betting it wasn't just me! :raofl:

from another thread i started in the spring - Asda opticians are ok - 2 pairs for £90 including every type of lense no extras
