Generators that can be installed under campervan

Hi.

I am trying to find a generator that can be installed on the frame of the motorhome - campervan. The only generator that I managed to find is from Telair that can be installed at the place of the spare tire under the vehicle.

Do you now any other manufacturers that produce something similar ?

Do anyone know If it is possible to be installed in a 5.4m ducato Van ?

Please get expert advice on this one.
The thought of storing petrol next to a hot engine with reduced cooling air flow under the van send shivers up my spine.

I was on a rally once when a guy died after his generator went up in a fire ball.

I know some vans have a built in generator, but these are design and installed by professionals.

Oh, I assume that is a 5.4m vaan and not a 5400 cc van ! (I'd love to see the latter)

Yes I was referring to length so a 5.4m van.

I am not talking of installing a generator by my self but from a certified professional.

Those generators are designed to work under the vehicle according to the manufacturer and there are no issues from water or debris from the road. Also they meant to work only when the vehicle is at full stop.

My questions are related if there are other options to the market as Telair generators are expensive and if someone knows if they can be fitted to 5.4 ducatos or citroen jumper.

Would EFOY help

EFOY fuel cells will keep your batteries charged and so together an inverter MIGHT suit.
Depends on what you need a genny for
This would do for us as we mainly run off 12V and on dark cold nights the EFOY would allow gas heating to be used more without draining the battery

all solutions are expensive !

Cheaper to use EHU ?
Again depends on what you need to power and how often how long etc etc

As far as I know only the Telair fits in this way. Also it is not a 240v generator it is a 12v charger.

I would like to thank you all for your valuable comments. As it seems Telair is the only viable option.

Tig 3000 G has a 240v output according to manufacturer.

I plan to power an overcab AC unit plus a computer that need up to 600w of power. At 2.9kw Max it seems that can run both.

The undercarriage generator is necessary as it will need to be used in places that you can not use a portable one like in urban and semi urban environments. Also it will need to auto start when needed.

The Tig 3000 G is a locker mounted generator I don't believe it can be underslung like the 12 volt units. They don't do a chassis mounting bracket for it.

Which aircon unit are you looking at?

I talked with a Telair representative and he said that there are two options for installation.

One is in a specialized generator compartment in case of a panel van like Fiat ducato and Citroen Jumber it can be installed under the van at the spare tire place. When a van has already an LPG installed the installation is easier.

Reading between the lines Im thinking the OP is not in UK am I correct? i/e he mentioned Tire place not Tyre place

If so maybe our advice relates to UK apllications ?

Built in generators are not any more silent than portable silent units , so operating them in semi urban or urban environments will not be any less intrusive . They also quite often don't get a very welcoming reception if parked near other campers who don't have a gennie . They also tend to be noisier when working near their rated capacity . I noticed that on my RV, and that had a 6.5kv , with extra silencing fitted . Inside it was not noticeable when in bed , but that was about 36ft away from the genset . I wouldnt have wanted to be on top of it :)

Is this a covert advertising stream , dont see what the list of dealers contributes to the thread ?

Some years ago I had an underfloor generator fitted but cann’t remember the name but it was supplied and fitted by ‘conrad anderson’ in birmingham, it was lpg powered and 12v output and automatically kicked in when batteries dropped to low level, it was so quiet i was looking all over for the noise when it kicked in for its one and only occasion in 3 years of ownership, are you sure you’ll need one?€

Onan make under slung generators, I have recently removed my 2800 series Onan microlite as it had only had 32hrs use in 18yrs. Didn't see much point in carting all that weight around, if I get desperate I will run the engine for a bit or go for a little run. In it's place I've had a 90L LPG tank fitted and the engine converted to also run on LPG.
The Generator picked it's fuel from a feed from the main petrol tank.
If I find I need more power I will see about fitting Sola, but not one down from a mobile nuclear power station like Phil....:lol-049::lol-049::lol-049:

No it is not. It just helps people that are interested to ask if it can be installed in their campervan.

My problem is that I need to power the AC and a desktop Workstation that in full load consumes 600w - 700w of power. Without a generator I will not be able to work.

As I understand the only underslung generators available in Europe are from one company and that is bad.

Anyway I would like thank everyone for your help.
