generator

I have just bought this one Villiers G2000i 1.9kw Inverter Generator Portable *** SPECIAL OFFER *** | eBay off ebay
1.9Kw inverter suitcase £300 and it's a Villiers engine :scared: Though I guess that would be a chinglish villiers engine, came today , but I missed the delivery man. My last genny packed in last week when running a IK, load had it 12 years though.

From the description:

Generators as a rule can be noisy, or at least used to be, this is a quieter generator, so you are able to use this inside without it being too noisy for the surrounding area, this is due to the molded case, an intake silencer and fiberglass insulation.

My emphasis - INSIDE?

Ha Ha, I'll be Ok with it on the kitchen side next to the microwave then, better than I thought.:sleep-040: CO:sleep-027:

Can you hold your breath that long, carbon monoxide poisoning springs to mind.:danger:

a gas ring and a whistling kettle is the fastest way to boil my water in my van.....

And my tip would be to only boil just enough water, at home I have the kettle marked on the scale on the side with black marker pen, enough for just a couple of cups.

If you try to boil too much water your just wasting energy and your time.

They are leaving themselves open to a right claim there.

Don't forget constantly running batteries, even leisure batteries, down to low voltage or alarm warning levels will shorten their life. Especially with home domestic appliances that sap the Amps at a very high rate.
Could turn out to be expensive boiled water or microwaved pies over the longer term.

Not relevent to Wild Campers I know, but I was at a Festival last month and they had a specific ban on PETROL generators. Diesel ones were fine, so it was not a noise thing the organisers had an issue with, but the increased fire risk the petrol ones posed.

Not sure how common that kind of restriction is?

I wish they would ban them at the Lincoln motorhome show, the first one started at about 7.30 this morning, now there are 3 of them running within close proximity, and although we were awake already it still is a very unpleasant sound to have nearby

My thoughts exactly ....

even the supposedly 'silent' ones seem to just gnaw away at you even when just in the back ground ...I wouldn't personally have one anywhere near me,but I guess thats why we tend to go for smaller quieter sites OR wild it instead .

Running a Genny for a Hr or two can be REALLY annoying can't they, All it takes is the 'User' of the Genny to be a bit more courteous & sympathetic to others near by & it wouldn't be a problem !.
But this just doesn't happen,,,YES I've got a Genny,,,But really only use it when the Washing Machine is on once a week, & I tend to find somewhere suitable to use it. I've had people say 'Well it's No different from having a vehicle engine running' & 'Duringcthe day it's not a problem running a genny' & stuff like that.
Why can't we just review our power needs in the first place to Limit or negate the requirement for running a Genny for hrs !.
Putting the Gas hob on to boil a Kettle is Quite, Cheaper, in my view. But TOTALLY understand that some people need to run a Genny as they haven't fully understood or made the full transition to Motorhome/Van life and want the Household power covenant niceties.
Let's all just be a bit more thoughtfull !.

LOL LOL LOL YEAH LIKE THAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN LOL LOL.

I need to run the generator though to power the silent plug-in lawnmower I bought after people complained about how noisy my Petrol mower was :rolleyes2:

I have a 2 year old Honda EU20i for sale if you are interested, i will throw in a made to measure carry bag + other extras. I won't go into detail regarding Honda suitcase generators but viewed as the best. It will run a microwave and virtually anything else you would carry in a motorhome.
Looking for £700.00 ovno.

Hi did you sell generator ????

Quite common it came about due to stupid people filling them whilst still running or hot.
