Gaslow problem

I have a Gaslow system in my van. Two refillable cylinders each with it's own capacity guage. Both cylinders are connected to the same pressure guage which in turn is connected to the regulator.

When I went to check over my van today I turned on an apparently three quarter full cylinder, held down the regulator button for a few seconds and then tried to light a gas ring. There was no gas coming out to light!

My immediate thought was that the regulator had failed but then I noticed that there was no pressure at the guage between the cylinders and the regulator.

I then turned off the cylinder which was showing about three quarters full and turned on the other cylinder which is showing about a quarter full. Still no pressure on the guage.

Logically the possible answers are:

1. That both cylinders are empty and hence both capacity guages are inaccuate.

or

2. That the pressure guage and the regulator have failed symultaneously so that there appears to be no gas pressure reaching the regulator when there really is but because the regulator has failed no gas can get through to the appliances.

Has anyone any suggestions or insight into what is going on before I start taking the system apart to try to isolate the problem?

NO SMOKING OR NAKED LIGHTS You could try just slackening the output hose from each bottle and then just crack the valve open and you should hear a hiss of gas.

Seems like the pressure guage has packed in. When I went back to the van and pressed the button on the regulator a few more times gas got through to the appliances. Sorry to have taxed your brains unnecessarily!

We got caught out like that until we learnt to do the same as you, see,you can teach an old dog new tricks? That us I mean not you Roger.

i am not familiar with the gaslow set up but may have done its job if you have swopped cylinders ... a lot of regulators have a upso valve, under
pressure shut off valve basically it shuts down in the event of pressure loss, it believes the system may have a rupture so stops supply. if you reset the valve normally a button on the regulator then it will be happy and supply gas
