Gas leak detectors - do they work?

After my recent foray into finding a slow gas leak I was wondering about these:

Or cheaper

Anyone ever tried one? I see you can also spend £200 on a “proper” one, but Screwfix stuff generally works, I find.

For the price of 1/2 tank of diesel or one gas cylinder..... I’ve never found the sprays convincing, I have to say.

It found a small leak on the back of my fridge which I had been trying to find with leak detector spray, they don't work if it is windy obviously

Mine works, cheap one from Aldi, traced tiny leak from gas regulator.
