Does anyone know of Scottish suppliers/installers of gas-it systems, was thinking of getting a tank fitted underside of camper for heating etc.
Any guidance appreciated

Gas-it is a small company in north wales... and they courier all the equipment to you. A local LPG/camper gas engineer should be able to fit it for you... its not a terribly complicated bit of kit.

I read somewhere that you can't take your MH through the Chunnel with an underslung tank mate, even cars with them fitted arnt allowed over, would this be right ? If so you won't be back to France with the hymer then .

Only vehicles whose engines are fuelled by LPG are banned from using the tunnel, if you have an underlsung or top side mounted LPG tank, all you need to do is to prove that it is turned off.

This from the Tunnel website:
Vehicles powered by LPG or equivalent flammable gas as well as dual powered vehicles (vehicles fitted with an LPG or equivalent flammable gas tank as an alternative fuel) cannot be accepted for transport by Eurotunnel Le Shuttle, even if:
the LPG or equivalent flammable gas tank is empty
the LPG or equivalent flammable gas mode of the vehicle is not selected
For the purposes of this text, this means fixed containers that are permanently installed or fixed in a vehicle and are refillable from outside the vehicle.

Gas used for domestic services
If travelling with a campervan, caravan or any other vehicle fitted with cooking facilities, any flammable gas container must be declared when asked and will be checked at the appropriate checkpoint by Eurotunnel Le Shuttle

Fixed gas containers (tanks, etc.)
The quantity of gas is limited to 47kg (or approximately 93 litres) maximum for a single container and to 50kg (or approximately 99 litres) maximum in the case of several containers. Each container must be no more than 80% full.

The quantity will be checked via the gauge or remote indicator but if neither are present, the vehicle will be refused.

Combination of portable and fixed containers
If your vehicle is fitted with a combination of portable and fixed containers, the quantity of gas is limited to 50kg (or approximately 99 litres) maximum and the rules previously described apply.

Note:
All containers and/or gauges/indicators must be of easy access by our staff for any check. Gas containers must be switched off whilst travelling and connection systems must be in good condition. Opening the container tap or using domestic services as described above is strictly forbidden until the vehicle has unloaded at the arrival Terminal

Hi Gordon,

We used the folk at Thirsk. We looked at an under slung tank but we went for a two bottle system in the end. No problem with the price or the quality of their work. Nice people to deal with. I'm going back there in a couple of months for a check up and service - might even get them to have a look at the gas system while I'm there :)

Same here, I can highly recommend them. I also had a two bottle system fitted and visiting them tomorrow for them to quote for an under slung tank.

Autogas 2000 - all the way for us too. They let us stop the night before, for free, with EHU thrown in too ! We chose to go down the, two bottle, refillable route as it was cheaper and you can keep the bottles when trading your van in.
Mind you, now you've sold us that solar panel we hope we won't be needing as much gas lol.

Was thinking on under slung tank to free the cupboard that houses my gas bottles as there a long cupboard off the tanks cupboard

We had a 80 ltr gas tank fitted underneath our hymer e510 about 4 yrs ago, expensive to install but soooo cheap once installed, the reason we had it fitted was you can refill at any gas station in Europe, just need an adapter.
Having said that it would have saved us a fortune had we have stayed in the UK.
