Does anyone have any experience of uploading POIs on to a Garmin ?

My old TomTom had Wild Camping POIs visible on the screen route maps.
It allowed me to see lay-bys which were ahead.
I'm not sure if that is possible on Garmin but don't seem to be able to up load Wild Camping POIs

Yes indeed, assuming your Garmin is suitable. I have WC and WEBSITE BLOCKED BY ADMIN both on my 760LMT

There is a how-to up with the Poi Downloads task bar at the top.

I have experience of uploading POIs to a Garmin. You don't say which model you have. Mine doesn't systematically display WildCamping POIs that I pass when I'm driving; I suspect that it may do so only when I have one set as destination.

Not on mine, it will display the WC and CC avatar as a 40x40 pixel while driving along.

Its a Camper 1090.

Reading elsewhere, you should be able to upload POIs using Garmin's POI Loader. Opinions seem to differ as to whether or not they can be displayed along your route; search your user manual for "Up Ahead Places".

I have a Camper 890 and, apart from initial problems loading third party POI‘s from my Apple based iMac to the Android based 890 using POI loader, I now can load WC POI’s easily. The locations always show up on the map as I’m driving.

I am trialling co pilot.
On my phone.
Looks good and both s4s and WEBSITE BLOCKED BY ADMIN "import" selected waypoints seamlessly.
Before I preferred a dedicated gps. But the tech has progressed.
For me a cheap tablet medium sized would be best and preferable to the phone.
Constant data connection not needed.
Other apps similar..not promoting copilot
.

Yes it must be 'cos the little green Ws show up on my sat nav as I drive around. But I can't remember how I did it and it's probably out of date now so I don't rely on it anymore and use my phone instead. Think the sat nav is about 6 years old.

As long far I know as long as the icon bitmap is in the same folder as the POIs they will show up along your route, I use Garmin POI Loader on Windows and it can be downloaded for WIndows or Apple It's pretty straight forward to use.

Del
