Fuel Prices

I know there have been some drops in fuel prices recently in the UK but is it still cheaper to buy fuel in mainland europe - lets say France, Spain and Portugal?

Cheers diesel is down to a similar sterling price in the uk approx £1.33. So still cheaper in France.

You will generally find that diesel in France is about the same in Euro as it is in Sterling. So if it ever came down to £1.20 or went up to £1.50 in Britain, it would come down to €1.20 or go up to €1.50 in France.

This is because French refiners pay the same price per barrel as UK refiners but taxes in the UK are much higher on diesel so there is always going to be that discrepancy in prices. On the other hand, petrol in France is taxed at a higher rate and can be as expensive as in the UK.

to me the price of fuel is just another fact of life.not to be given too much attention.not something you can do anything about,so not worthy of wasting emotion upon.as i may have mentioned before,we are living in the petrol age,and supplies are finite,so enjoy it while you can and i'm just glad to have been here for it.when fossil fuels run out,the only alternative i can see is battery power, which is no good to me ! so enjoy it while you can and travel as much as you can, because this time will never come back again.not doomy just real

Don't be too gloomy. They may yet improve hydrogen technology or biofuel production to give similar performance to fossil fuels :)

Yep seems like that so 1.33 EUR = 1.05 GBP. There's still a significant gap per litre. Do you or indeed anyone else reading know the approx Euro price for diesel in Spain and Portugal at the moment?

Hi there yes we are living in the oil age, although we are on the slippery slope down from peak oil output. Batteries are a form of storing power not creating it so not sure what you mean about that. Anyway onward and upward to our destruction or maybe something better instead.
