Fuel gauge

PS my maximum fills are
in 2010 17 galls 435 miles
16.8 galls 475 miles and
17.7 galls mileage but at least 406miles Not valid as others had used thr vehicle !
Thus my conclusion is my range is as much as 500 miles now that my right foot is lighter.
Running out of diesl is stupid but I will adjust my fill up mileage to 350 miles.
Which is has been sometime !
However fuel in the tank is a bit like money in the bank (x2)
DO NOT risk running out..100 miles = 3.4 galls = maybe £20

David. Mine is 80 litres. 17.5 gallons. I would say that I try to keep 3 gallons in tank when refilling With my previous 2.8s I averaged 18/20 to the gallon up to 75mph. With this one six gears 2 hid. Travelling up to 65/68. I get 26/. 28. If I go 70 plus then that
drops drastically. it’s got cruise so I set it At 67. It’s too easy to go 80 plus without realising Brian

Yes my tank is maybe 80 maybe 90 maybe 70 litres.
Possible the gauge is now more accurate ?
Assuming 80 litres = 17 galls = over 500 miles..yet I fill up at 300 miles.
The gauge shows about 1/3 but I do not trust it !
cheers. Interesting.
I remember my old RAV4 where the fuel gauge was rubbish and warning light on with loads left. in the end I used to use a Scanguage (connects to OBD Port) and use that to tell me how much range I had left - added maybe 80 miles to the range which made a big difference.

It is the level gauge arm inside it is pivoted at the top and swings down and below the sensor, the top amount is level and the empty is hanging there, vertical, so it will never be accurate, except at both extremes of travel.
