Frying pan recommendation

Just a bit funny about using takeaway cartons really trying to use less plastic and foil etc so washing up not an issue.........just this weekend we both commented on the amount of waste packaging we had in little bin.

Another vote for T K Maxx... I got all my gorgeous pans for the motorhome from there, ironically all except the frying pan. I've given up on expensive non-stick frying pans because they never last long enough to justify the price, so now I get something really cheap and cheerful (and light!) from a supermarket or poundshop and just replace it about once a year. I really love the ceramic frying pans but you have to get a decent one because the cheaper ones scratch too easily despite using silicone utensils... I blame it on my love for crispy bacon

I bought a few Ceramic pans and we never managed to cook anything without the food burning. Just couldn't get them right :( Went back to the Non-stick pans and no problems. I did get one of those "stone" type pans from the Original Factory Shop... quite a small one and just cost a fiver I think, but it is brilliant.

I agree, the ceramic ones can be very hit and miss (especially for bacon) but I love mine for omelettes... which just glide onto the plate and almost fold themselves in half. Also a breeze to clean. I've not tried a stone one yet... might get one for the house. I know people swear by Tefal non-stick but mine ended up at the recycling centre after a couple of years. The best I ever had was a big Danish cast iron skillet by Copco that lasted for decades. I used to season it regularly with heated oil and salt etc, so it didn't stick. I had quite a collection of Copco stuff dating back over 40 years but had to give the larger bits up because they were getting too heavy for me!

Same here. My first ceramic I ruined in less than a year, it was only then I read the manual :lol-053:, so tried again and bought another one. Love it, it is my most pampered pan but works very well. My other fav fry pan is a 30 year old cast iron skillet, goes on the hob, in the oven on BBQ and open fires, gets left out in the rain when there is sufficient quantities of wine around, and occasionally left on a fire for far too long, that will be the wine again. Give it a good scrub, season it again and its good to go.
