Fridge problem

Our RM7361 fridge has performed well over 10 years. After a recent clean of the burner, the wire that attaches the thermocouple broke at the spade connector on the burner end. A new connector and piece of wire was fitted

The fridge lights perfectly on the first spark or two, with a good flame, but the igniter keeps on sparking indicating that the thermocouple is not sensing the flame, although it is in the correct position,

Any ideas on what is wrong? I'm baffled!

hi
seems like a short in the wire to thermocouple.

Thanks Eddy,

Using a multi meter everything checks out OK -continuity where it should be , no shorts.

Hi 'Hairydog'
Sorry to disagree. If I disconnect the spade terminal the igniter operates OK and the gas lights. The thermocouple should then tells the igniter to stop and if it cools tells the control box to turn the gas off. If after a few seconds (this happens in our case) although the flame is lit OK no signal from the thermocouple so for safety gas is turned off and ignigter stops.

The thermocouple's position hasn't changed -just the wire to it.

Thanks for you thoughts.
